Can you destroy mob spawners?
When I realized I set camp right next to a spawner of wights and the big jumping guys, it was too late to move everything to a new position.

I've cleared the mobs around the spawner but could not find any structures to destroy there. Two days later they were back.

Is there a way of getting rid of them for real?

As far as I know you can delay mob spawn only if there is a boss spawner (2 big piles of meat and bones which can be destroyed).
Also having a spawner nearby is actually a good source of addictional resources (meat / iron / Jotun blood / bones...) if you can handle repeatedly destroy your enemies.

Killing boss delay mob spawn for 1 year.
If there is no boss, you are forced to deal with each spawn endless.

hmm I see.. I believe there was no boss spawner around that one. Guess I will have to deal with them more often than not. I like to have mobs nearby also, but these are really close.. they wander to my fences like every other day.

But as a follow up, you mentioned you could kill a boss and delay the spawn for 1 year.. After that year the boss spawner also respawn, so you could keep doing it?

Yeap, that's the point. Boss has extra loot (3-4 iron scraps, 2-4 Jotun blood stones, sometimes hides and meat...)

I think if there's no second spawner, i.e. the boss spawner, then eliminating the single spawner will delay respawn for some period. I have personally observed wulfgar dens with no spawner as well, and presumably wiping the existing population will buy you a reprieve, at minimum, in those situations.
This is speculative. I've also found dens with no spawner and no creatures, which I'm sure i've never visited before. Seems that there may be some bugs present in this.
