Whats the goal ?

I‘m thinking about buying the game but i haven‘t figured out what‘s the goal of the game . Is there an end of do i just have to build a village and that‘s it?

As for now:
-explore your map seed to understand where to build your village;
-learn how to gather and smelt iron;
-survive first bear atack;
-survive first winter;
-expand your village over 20 vilagers;
- survive your first major incursion;
- kill 4 bosses and gather weather stones;
-build weather altars and gain major buffs for your island;
- kill final boss - stone Jotun (need all 4 weather stones)
-build last stone altar.

The goal as far as I can see is build a colony and keep building until your society comes crashing down around you due to famine or lack of resources or enemies.......... Or your computer has a f@rt and dies. Glad I plumped for a rebuild last year.
