Oak Trees? NYI tools?

Was running around and found an Oak Tree that gives "Dark Wood" but my Large Crude Iron Axe isn't even enough to harvest it. Did I miss something or is this just for later tiers?

Nope. Iron is the late tech. You cant cut those, and you cant use them neither

Its something which is not used for now.

Hopefully this is used for higher tier weapons and tools etc in the future. Presumably enemies will ramp up to counter. I hope we end up fighting with that big b*gger at the shore when you first land

fun game though it looks so much like valheim with the npc element, with npcs being dumb as....

I’ve seen a few but last night my friend and I reached our third invasion, one of the enemies dropped a bronze battle axe. I believe that may be the next ore to find? Considering it’s superior to iron. I’m thinking it’s found deeper in the caves and that it’s used for such trees.
