Fetilizer

How can i get more fertilizer? I'm allways without fetilizer on my farm... I know that to get fertilizer I just need to let food rot... But I think there should be a compost bin, like in Medieval Dynasty... If I leave the food in the cabinet, it never rots, so I never get fertilizer. Is the only way to get fertilizer to walk around for hours with my inventory full of food until it rots?
