Winter Invasion *TIP TO WIN*
When you get the warning that an invasion is coming in a month, it says that a portal has spawned and the gods will test you.

It means it.

There is a portal, a physical, visible, blue glowing portal which is where the invasion will spawn. If you find it you will know exactly where the mobs will come from, and you can plan your defenses accordingly.

Layer the walls, build the watchtowers, toss in a few firepits to keep everyone toasty, set your patrol markers for that spot.

Focus those efforts in that single direction, and while its not a cakewalk, it is winnable with minimal casualties (I lost one archer when his flimsy watchtower was collapsed)

I actually just focused all my defenses on the edge of my town which was closest to the portal, because I knew that is where they would hit. That way I can loot all the bodies without much of a walk, and have all my food and healing nearby. It was my first invasion so I didn't truly know what to expect :D

Walling in the portal itself never occurred to me, but it would be interesting to see if that works as well!

wonder if you can destroy the portal by chance? im still working on building up my population and it sucks having to wait 10 minutes per villager

Just a tip- any bloodmoon or invasion message you get, if you open your map it will show you exactly where the spawner is.

Built raised dirt walls all around as much as possible, what I couldn't I built walls and had 12 warriors. Was a very easy fight tbh.

you can use Patrol Markers when it pops up using 2 barracks 2 archery, take some garlic with you it stacks as healing.

The important thing is that the portal for the invasion appears 28 days before the invasion starts, so you can pre-set everything, instead of waiting until the invasions starts.

I have 5 villagers, who haven't trained in combat, just got a bloomery but I still only have basic weapons and no armour. Can anyone give me any suggestions for what to do?

I'm not a fan of hardcore games and really want to play a peaceful and relaxed game, so any advice on how to defend myself as easily as possible would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Me and my friend found the Invasion location. We just camped it and 2 manned the entire incursion with two-hand swords and longbows. I did run out of arrows pretty quickly, but the two-hand iron sword smacked them up real good.

Lol, Im playing solo and also tried to bring the battle to the portal. I built 3 hedge towers and 2 waatchtowers and some walls, all manned, plus a couple of fires for the cold. The day finally comes and me and my villagers spent all night patrolling and nothing, then as soon as the villagers go to sleep (they were on night shift) the damn invasion began. Luckily I survived but just barely. Since every attack was at night I figured this too was going to be at night lol. Are the time of attack for invasion random or always during the day?

I had an archery and barracks near the portal and me and my friend were armed with two handed swords and I ended up going range but we were able to kill them with only 2 casualties. our camp had about 35 villagers at the time.

as long as you know where the portal is the Invasion isn't that hard when you prepare accordingly, here's my setup:

1 barracks 3 warriors
1 archery 3 archers + 1 hunter archer
3 watchtowers for archers
2 dogs in my party

i built walls around my town which also helps against bloodmoon.
also i added some loose walls to put in front of my main wall. turns out the enemy likes to attack those 'loose' walls so that gives your archers time to shoot.
If you put a campfire next to the watchtower your archers will stay warm and can stay there for a long time. ;)

i mainly stayed inside my walls cause i didn't have any armor and i didn't want my dogs to die and i had to run around to keep the campfires going. (this is a very important part cause villagers don't keep the fires going.)

also i gave all my archers 40+ arrows cause they only had a few arrows on them..

Whenever a portal appear I immediately started to build a hedge wall facing the portal, I then placed 6 watchtowers along that stretch of wall and put 2 patrol flags 1 either side of the wall run, then set my patrol groups to walk from one to the other after 6 hours on both flags. I have 5 barracks and 2 archery ranges, I have them walking across the front of the base to the flag on the opposite side in case the mobs try to run a flank on me, which they have done before now. I have 3 hunter huts, so I put all 6 hunters in the towers. 1 Campfire between the first 2 towers and the next 2 towers, and a campfire at each flag. I then stand in the middle of the patrol group and wait for the slaughter. Everything that comes dies fast, my main problem is that my army gets closer and closer to the portal with each wave, out of range of the campfires and towers, but then they're also away from the base and I have nothing to repair. It's usually over within 4 game time hours at most.

1 more thing, invasion start at 13:00. build some walls, a camp fire, patrol maker. i have 3 warrior with iron weaps, iron helmet, leather armor, thick line pant. 3 archer with long bow, bone arrows ( no tower ). Disable others patrol route and focus on invasion maker, make sure all your troops there at 12:00 and wait.
It was easy for me, 1-2mins and done, no casualties

I'm going to be stupid and try to solo it. I've soloed everything else thus far without issues and I don't have a single minion. The benefit here is I focused on getting to iron, getting iron weapons and then clearing camps to build up combat skills. I don't know if it'll be enough but I wanted to try playing the game in a way it wasn't designed to be played. Yes, I should have a small army at this point but.....yeah. Let's see how it goes.
