Achievements
Anyone notice the strangely low numbers of players doing even the simplest of tasks and getting an achievement for it?
Like, most achievements are less than 3%. Even simple ones like catch a fish - 0.2%.
That indicates that only about 1-3 people out of every 100 who own the game actually played for any length of time.

I like the game, but I have a feeling the low completion rate is due to the game not being ready - even for early access. I'm up to about 10 hours (20 if you include the demo) and there are so many minor issues that it's hard to keep count. I still don't even know how to split a stack (or even if you can)!

I'll give it a few more hours' time but at this stage I think the game needs some significant development work - balance, processes, tool tips, QoL changes - hopefully not too many that the devs are backed into a corner and are unable to finish the game to their vision.

I think a LOT of people have restarted multiple times before doing some things. I'm just over 20 hours in, not counting the demo, and have 32/39 achievements. I've had four or five restarts though.

the percentages of the achievments are weird at many games on steam. Don´t take the numbers serious. There are games who release and even the "you start the game" like achievments are below 5% and there are games with the same kind of achievements with 80% "you start the game".
I have no idea how data collection works for this, but it could be that it depends on used interface between steam and the devs. I´ve also get all achievements except the fishing ones yet.

Who even cares for achievments?

Achievments are the social media plague of games. Absolutely stupid, pointless and worthless.

I mean, i'd probably care for really interesting and challenging achievments...i already did in some games. Those 5 out of 5 million games that even had really interesting achievments.

But most "achievments" in most games are just pointless. "Start a game" or "kill your first enemy" is not really an achievment. That's just basic gameplay. Looking at most achievments doesn't tell anything about anybody really achieved anything. It basically just tells he played the game at all.

And there's the other sort of achievments like "catch a fish"... well, you don't need to catch a fish. You can play the whole game without even catching a single fish. It's completely legit and catching a fish is not really something you need to achieve.
Imho an achievment should be a challenge.... if someone cares for achievments showing up in their profile at all.

Some kind of REAL achievment would be probably something like "kill 3 skeletons with one swing". Survive a winter without clothing, kill the bear without getting hit once. Survive a whole year without killing a single animal (including fish, going full vegetarian). THAT's an achievment.

But those worthless achievments, anybody reaches inevitably by just playing the regular progression has absolutely nothing to do with "achievments".

Agreed - The majority of achievements out there are completely worthless. My post was more about the strangeness of such a low number of people appearing to actually play the game after purchase - literally less than 5% - and whether this was indicative of bots or dummy accounts purchasing the game or what.

Probably people buying the game for the EA-price and/or even the 10% launch discount, but haven't had time to play it yet? I mean, it's out only 3 days yet....

From thousands of comments i read from early access games yet, by far not just ASKA, many people still haven't understood what early access is. Some of them still however buy the game, just because of EA discount, but never play it in early stage. That's also part of early access.
Several of them may just have bought it yet, but will just start playing in the next weeks or months...

Relying on the achievment numbers, just because they are low, doesn't tell anything.

Hey I'm not sure why its showing like this on your end but from the back end its showing much higher numbers, might be something to do with Steam/Localisation perhaps!

Yeah, according to my achievements only 3.1% built a shelter. That can't be right lol

I have a feeling that the percentage only updates in batches. With a new addition to Mini Motorways a certain new achievement had a 0,0% achievement rate and only updated a couple days after release of the content but I know quite a lot of people must've achieved it sooner.

My guess is that the percentages for achievements are only accurate some time after release (or after the addition of the content as in my previous example) and it'll update overtime.

Well, I'm in Australia (OCE, Southeast Asia or w/e) and there isn't a single achieve over 5%. If people from other regions (NA, Europe etc) are reporting similar numbers, then the total number will still be 5%.

I am from EU and I also see these low numbers on all of the achievements. I am used to those numbers being a bit weird sometimes, but these seem to be totally off.

Also from the EU and i see the shelter achievement at 75%ish and the collect food one is over 90% right now. Steam might just be a bit funky in this respect
How do you get the sizeable amount of berries and mushrooms achievement please?

Press "j" in game, it will open up your journal. Find God's favors - harvesting.
Thete will be your progress on most collectible achievements.

You need:
-50 mushrooms (yellow one count as 3);
-Something about 30 berries.

achievements =/< participation award
I mean, at least with a participation award you can distract someone with by throwing it at them.
