Co-op how does it work in this game?

How do other players join your game? Can you just open it to random players and can others destroy your base and kill you?

i set mine in multiplayer with no password and ive only had my friend join so far, might only be limited to friends joining your world rn

Anybody can join a public game, there's a list of sessions you can find in the multiplayer menu. Friends can join through the Steam friends menu. Most people play in private sessions, being a co-op and all. Fear of griefers.

I just started a multiplayer world with a password. I didn't see options for private vs public but I also didn't look too hard since I was setting a password
