In-Game chat
this seems pretty cool, but I seem to be noticing a disturbing trend in multiplayer games. No in-game chatbox? Maybe I am missing it, but I just don't understand the thought process behind this devolution in some games recently. You want me to shift tab or alt tab to a different window to say anything?
Not everyone can or wants to voice chat all the time. No in-game chat is bad for accessibility, bad for roleplayers, and bad for anyone that cares the slightest about immersion. Need I go on? I think I may have to; it's bad for people that have a hard time with a shared language verbally, but not text. it's bad for tense moments in game where time is of the essence, it's bad for late night gamers, it's bad for new players dropping into a server, or a friends game. It's bad for low-end pc gamers that need another bloated program to join the host's discord (or whatever). It's bad for people that can't stand voice chatting, it's bad for data usage. I'm sure there are more reasons

Yes some of these are very minor things to most people, (LOL GET BETTAR COMPOOTER BRO), but unless a dev can explain a specific reason why a supremely basic functionality that online/co-op games have had for 30+ years (and major inspirations and competition for this game) isn't included, I will continue to be disappointed and sad. I would buy 5 copies of this for me and my pals, but something missing like this is really making me reconsider, as each of us has multiple reasons listed above.

I am not opposed to workarounds, I have 100 hours in enshrouded, which also mysteriously doesn't have in game chat. I also played 150 of baldurs gate 3, which also doesnt. That one I only play alone though, because it's so cringe to tab out for immersion, battle tactics and rp reasons.

Please explain why no in-game chat, I am genuinely curious. Legal issues? Devs just think nobody uses that oldschool ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ anymore? I stand here hat in hand, stuffed with cash, and awaiting something that makes sense....

Fallout 76 relies on a 3rd party mod that everybody uses. Same with Astroneer, its very annoying.

Gleefully, F76 explicitly states you can get banned for using mods, while nobody has in the years its been active, its rather annoying to have to deal with the potential of losing your game just so you can communicate without jump jump shoot jump shoot jump jump.

Hey thanks for the feedback! It's definitely a highly requested feature from the demos and the devs are looking into it!

I totally agree, I've seen a lot of games lately that lack in game chat. every multiplayer game should have it in my opinion.

It is a no brainer, needing to open another program in mid game to say something is just plain crazy. Needs in game chat!

All my friends in Steam don't have this game and I started playing multiplayer with someone I don't know and I don't know how to connect to it, if you can tell me how to open a program and that I can connect to it because I don't see anything that i can do to connect whit him.

Maybe you can jump in Morse code? That must be the intended mode of communication by the devs
