but I bet you also did that. :)
Unless there was an update to the demo after I DL'd it but before I installed and ran it.
"Hold 'Shift' before selecting and moving a brick to duplicate it" - so grabbing (or selecting) a brick alone does nothing. you still have to move the mouse a lil bit to clone. :)
I did just try holding the LMB on the brick prior to hitting Shift and it doesn't show the double-boxes icon, only move and it only moves the tile. So still no duplication.
Hold Mouse down over a Brick > then press and hold shift to lock the y axis so you can move a brick only on a plane and prevent vertical movement (no clone!)
Hold Shift down > then hold mouse down over a brick (squares are there) > then move the brick to clone. (after clone you should have the new brick and automatically be in the same mode as explained above - vertical move locked - until you release Shift)
(But this is the one thats not working on your end)

Edit: This was using the Hold Shift then click and drag method described in the tutorial.
- You are actually not playing the newest version of the game. Do you play the demo still? :)
- Since the demo we improved the visibility of the squares (to only show when duplicate is REALLY possible). Because - like in your video - you CAN'T duplicate a brick that is still in the Palette (where the number is beside) - but in the demo the squares are still there which is definitely confusing.. sorry for that.
- In your video the second time you tried to duplicate it actually worked as intended. :)
The functionality of cloning is the same. just the 2 squares indicating it are better now.
I'll have a talk if we can update the demo with the newest stuff.
Actually, on the second instance where you said it copied, it didn't. If you watch the counter on the stack, it actually goes down. I originally though the same thing as you when it first happened. :D
And to echo Mantup, a big thank you to coming on here and interacting with us and trying to help. <thumpsup>
Fortunately, I've made it through the Demo without the inability to duplicate negatively impacting completion, just confusing since if one doesn't think to try to complete the build without duplicating you'll think you're stuck.
Then you actually duplicated the brick you previously pulled out (+ counter on palette went from 3 to 2). The clone feature does not give you more bricks - it only lowers cursor travel time since you dont have to pull each brick out of the palette (where the counter is placed next to it) one-by-one but instead you can "virutally use every already placed brick as sort of a palette" by cloning it - thus reducing the actual amount of available bricks of course.
Thats also the reason why you cant clone out of the palette initially - because it makes no sense - just grab the brick - its in the palette anyway. + Thats also the reason why you can only duplicate if there are bricks left in the palette. :)
Summary: Cloning does not mean you get more bricks than initially stated - it just increases build speed by reducing cursor travel time. this is even more valuable on Controller. :)
