Dating multiple people

I'm new to the game. Can someone tell me avoiding spoilers, can I date multiple bachelors at the same time, or? Do I have to break up with my date to start romancing other character(s)? Thanks!

Sadly nope. Once you start dating someone (get their 'intimate friend' heart to full, there will be an exclamation mark over their 'talk' option, talk to them and they'll ask you out. One person sends you a letter instead). When that happens you go on a date, and you'll have the option to turn them down or continue dating them. Once you've started any of this, no one else is romancable, for now. You will have to break up with the person you're dating/married to, in order to date/marry someone else. (I explain in my guide how to get the marriage achievements for everyone without having to do 7 different play-throughs).

what happens after breakup/divorce? Will the character hate you or sth?

They're back to Best Friends status with you and you cannot date/marry them again - unless you give them a special item that becomes available in Year 2.
