Fastest way to get Soil/Weeds?
As the questions states, does anyone know the fastest way to get soil or weeds? I have 3 bins and the amount of soil needed for upgrades is insane!

So far I haven't found a way. When I unlocked the bridge, and saw piles of dirt I could dig up in the forest, I was bummed it was not soil. Need another way to farm soil, 40 for hay field, and 50 for 2nd garden, plus , you use 1 for this or that, yea, it's ridiculous.

Yes, definitely would be nice if when we dig up clay we also got one soil. I don't always get weeds spawning and find this frustrating. Want the vegetable garden and so far have taken two weeks to get 10 soil and I need 50.

This is my only frustration. I agree that when digging up, we should at least have a chance to get soil.

From the process and dialog I guess they named it a bit wrongly. As it is not really soil we need to build those garden beds as the soil is already there and you don't really make soil with weeds in a compost bin. What you really make is fertilizer and use fertilized soil to make the garden bed.

As for the expansions they should have used a different type of soil then what comes out of those compost bins if you ask me as yes it is tedious and takes a long time to get the amount needed for those. Or give the compost bin a few parallel queues where we can make this so called soil. Like for instance 10 queues and the potions should apply to all running queues in that bin.

Next to that they should also give us the option to let a garden bed be overgrown with wild plants, so that it grows weeds, thistle etc but it does pick random from them with a high chance of weeds though.

I agree it desperately needs some balancing. If I am lucky I find two weeds every day; most days I find one or none. I found only one in the first six days of the game.

I built three compost bins quickly, hoping to have them churning out soil 24/7, but two of them sit idle 99% of the time. At this rate it's a darn good thing I don't have to worry about the seasons changing any time soon.

So far, for me, the best way has been to always use a "boost harvest potion" on the compost bin, and try to just stick to having one around, making the double amount

Exacctly. Also, this issnt a balance issue. You are not suppose to get them new fileds too quickly, thats why it should take some time. Which is basically normal in such games.

Must be nice to actually find conches for that boost potion or get to buy them more than very occasionally... +1 for this game needs better balancing

It may just be psychological but it seems I get more weeds in Summer than spring.

I'm having the opposite experience. I got enough weeds for two compost bins through all of spring, now I'm suddenly running out.
And it's been many in-game weeks since I've found a conch on the beach, I check both there and with Shelby every day, he may have a single one like once a week or so. I keep finding the regular shells that I still don't have a use for. Probably shouldn't sell them to Shelby because the moment I need them I'll stop finding them, just like with mandrakes (and conches obviously, I got them a lot in very early game)...

Seriously. I found 4 or 5 conches on the beach on the first day and am now over two weeks in and have only found one since. Between that and the soil, I am a bit put off. I'm never one to mind a bit of grind, but if things don't spawn there isn't anything *to* grind. Kind of frustrating.

Yes I feel the spawn rates of some things could perhaps use a bit of tweaking. I like that stuff is variable, but when key progress is gated by 'Did sufficient weeds/shells/herbs spawn today?' it can get a little frustrating.

Then you look the next day? You dont need to hurry in this game anyway so i dont see the problem. Yes, you need something, its not there this day, bad luck, trxy the next day. You also can get every item you need at a certain point from several vendors, like Shelby - only need to know where he is, or Peri can also help out with these things.

I thoroughly search every location every single day.

The thing is, I only have so much time every day to play games, and it just isn't fun to be completely progress-blocked simply because items aren't spawning. I'm not talking about having to wait one day, or even two. I've gone many, many, many in-game days without a conch spawning (literally one has spawned since the first day). And on average I'm getting 6 weeds every 7 days, so less than one per day. At that rate, I don't know man.

I really like the game; the story is well-written and interesting, the characters are compelling, and the voice-acting is superb. But just strolling around the entire island day after day hoping something spawns isn't enough fun for me to keep playing for much longer.

Here's hoping the spawn-rate for some of the items is tweaked just a tad.

Shelby sells conches and it seems you have higher chances for them if you dont clear the beach every day, like Kai suggested, story-trigger when he asks you what are you doing at the beach and you can choose to "collect shells". Tho i dont think thats the case. ^^ i do find one every 2-3 days i'd say, if not, im just gonna look at Shelby's every day.

I also think if every item would be available in an infinite amount, the game would not make fun anymore. Conches are rare, yes, for a reason.

6-7 Weeds per day is also pretty much fine - again i dont see a problem there.

You're not suppose to have/find 15 weeds or 5 conches per day.
