Why does it lag so much? I don't have the best pc in the world, but i should have no problem playing this game.

Dorian, thanks for bringing this to our attention? What is happening when you experience the lag? What game mode? Any estimate of number of troops on the battlefield?

The number of units doesn't create problems for me, it starts to lag for a short time when the troops start to charge the enemy trench, but the lag starts to be more unbearable and problematic during combat when they start shooting. It is the same for every level and gamemod. Maybe it's my pc that sucks, but I can play much heavier games with high graphics without many problems.


My PC Specs:

Intel Core i7-7700HQ
8 threads - 2.8 GHz

GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050
2 GB VRAM

Memory 16 GB RAM

Thanks for additional information. That should be more than enough to play this - we'll look into it and see if we can find any issues. If anyone reading this is having similar issues, please let us know here or in the bug report thread.

I also see lots of lag for some reason. I am getting less than one frame per second and I have a RTX 3060, I5 12th gen, 16GB ram. There are maybe 200 troops in the battle field in endless mode.

Same for me when I played I also experienced massive frame drop on my laptop the second they started shooting.

I've got serious lag problems whenever troops are shooting or if I'm using artillery strikes. Doesn't matter if there's just a few soldiers or a whole bunch of them. Funny thing is there's no lag what so ever in Endless mode, only in the campaign maps.

Same, got LOTS of lag and I know for a fact my machine can easily play this.

Hey guys I did some testing and found a way to stop the lag for me, hopefully the devs see this and find it helpful in solving the issue!

When I re-installed Steam onto my C hard drive instead of D which I usually use, the game runs with no lag what so ever. Even when using the option to install the game itself on the other drive, the game runs fine as long as Steam is installed on the C drive. My C drive is an SSD while the D drive is an HDD. Tested twice by re-installing and it works both times while going back to lagging as soon as Steam is installed on the HDD. When Steam was installed on HDD the lag did no go away even when installing the game to the SSD drive, it only works when Steam is installed on that drive.

GOOD idea for every program/app, run it on SSD and best SSD with your OS (like windows or apples).
Other drives and (specially) HDD are great for storing things like pics, movies, etc.

Btw if you have the choice always install OS on an SSD (M2 is also SSD but better).

The charge is the hardest part to render in the game, therefore that may be the lag cause.

Hrmm, can play PoE, BG3, SMITE etc no problems at all.
But charging with as little as 2 stickmen is hard to render. That's funny.

It's poorly optimized. No reason it should bog the pc down that much.

It is funny just retried last level and had no lagg.
Perhaps those other games adapt to your device and this one doesn't?
Try lower graphics quality?(helps on my laptops compared to my years older desktop)
