Game keeps crashing before it can even start

basically what the title says. I gifted this game to my friend but they can't get it to start and it keeps crashing. Any ideas? Thank you. (also sorry if this seems like an obvious question, I am the least tech knowledgeable person I know)

Linux support?

A window with the title "9 Childs Street - Unity 2021.1.11f1_430e224e4fe3" pops up with something loading and at 2/3 it crashes silently to desktop. (using Linux Mint with Proton experimental)
