Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

We need some other Ratchet & Clank games on Steam
I'm not sure if Sony are ignoring other released because this didn't sell well enough and they think there's no market, but honestly I think the original PS2 trilogy or even some of the PS3 games like Tools of Destruction or A Crack In Time would do significantly better.

Rift Apart has the problem of it requiring Windows 11 Direct Storage, an NVME SSD, and being quite demanding on both the CPU and GPU for anyone with a mid-range let alone low-end PC to want to bother with it. I didn't want to touch it until I got Windows 11 because I knew without Direct Storage it would suffer during the transitions between rifts and things like that.

The older games not only would run on basically any PC now, but I think were much better. I think even R&C 2016 from the PS4 would still sell alright on here, it's not the greatest game in the world, but I'd replay it on PC if it released here.

Seriously Sony, give us something, we don't even need remasters/remakes, I'd be happy with ports like HD Trilogy on Steam. If there's problems with them of course they'll eventually be fixed anyway.

I agree! I'm also surprised they didn't add the remake on Steam, since it seems like something they'd do to skip porting over the older games.

The game is also playable on Windows 10 and Linux/Steam Deck, can be played with and without DirectStorage (even on Windows 10), and can be played whether you have an NVMe SSD, a non-NVMe SSD, an HDD, or even an SD card. HDDs/SD cards/et cetera may have very, very long loading times, but an SSD is technically not "required" (even the Steam store page only says that an SSD is "recommended" in the minimum requirements).

There are still a few minor visual issues with the PlayStation 3 HD Trilogy, and major visual issues with the PlayStation 3 version of Ratchet: Gladiator/Deadlocked.
Spyro: Reignited Trilogy is an example of a PC game not even getting a single update after being released on Steam (despite minor PC-exclusive issues related to the now-uncapped frame rate).
Problems don't always get fixed, unfortunately.

I know it's playable, but I've seen enough comparisons to know it's not that good of an experience and regardless of your GPU, you could have a 5090 and 9800X3D but if you're running on Windows 10 or without an NVME SSD it'll freeze during transitions or slow down at least. I know it still works, I never said it didn't, but to have it boot up, load in and transition like the PS5 an NVME and Windows 11 are required. Many people won't care, I do because I already played through it on PS5.

As for issues on those versions, yeah there are some, I have played through all 3 of the HD R&C Trilogy games many times each and don't think I've ever actually had any issues worth mentioning. Spyro Reignited works fine if you leave it capped at 120fps, which is more than enough for a remake of games from 1998-2000. I know that's not the point as it's issues left unresolved, but as far as game issues go, there are major game breaking issues on new releases of games people play a lot that never get fixed, so complaining about minor issues on games that otherwise work almost flawlessly is silly to me.
All we can hope is that sony finally does a PS5 remake sad part is i dont see it with all the old jokes that probably wont fly with the current audience. Only real way to play all the old titles is to get a ps5 and pay for the top tier sub unless you want to find a rom and play it on PCSX 2

Yeah you're right, if they got ground up remakes they'll probably be butchered. I'd like to think they would do faithful remakes like the Spyro Trilogy or Crash Trilogy, especially with the Gex Trilogy coming eventually too. I just think it's too early, since all the remakes are still PS1 era right now, we got Silent Hill 2 recently of course.

I'd be happy if they just got the original ones and put them in a bundle like the HD Trilogy but of course fixed things so that they would work on modern PCs, have support for higher framerates and resolutions and such. I've had nothing but problems with emulators and playing on the original PS2 isn't practical in 2025.

All-4-One would sell well especially if I can connect online with my friends somehow. I really miss that game but sadly I need the special PS+ to have it. I would just repurchase it for my p5 but they don't allow you it's annoying af.
I never played All 4 One, or Q-Force/Full Frontal Assault. I stopped played R&C for a long time after I finished A Crack In Time, I sort of got bored of the series and came back for the 2016 Remake. I went back a played Into The Nexus on PS3 and it looked awful and ran like garbage on there, it really made me question why they didn't update it and release it on PS4 or just delay it and make it longer and better and to also be a PS4 launch title.
