You mean you didn't purchase this game console just to play games in general, or to use all of its features? Exclusive games are for marketing purposes and not created to benefit the consumer, unless you count early access, especially with the EGS. It's just like those that collect pre-order bonuses for a low quality DLC item. They want to feel special for being the only ones to obtain and hold a digital item that others will likely never see in the first place? Then, those pre-order bonuses release to everyone later. A greater pre-order bonus is an early discount for those that purchase the game early. Otherwise, companies should just make the game more complete beforehand and give everyone access to that content, rather than continuing with these pre-order or exclusivity practices, even if they can be timed. Doing so would show other consumers more respect in how they are treated. Other than that, Sony has done well to collect the initial cash from those that wanted to be first.
"Greatness Awaits" doesn't it?
Sony: "Now that we've made our money from all of those suckers, let's stretch our boundaries to the PC platform."
Sony ain't going to do squat
Well, you've definitely spoken to the right person about HALO. While the ports were somewhat lacking at the time, PC had the Gearbox port of Combat Evolved and HALO 2 Vista.
It must've been a pretty weak PC (possibly prebuilt) for the time to do that. 2007 was of course a different time than my experiences with PC today, where I already have extra copies of the HALO titles to play on PC with the MCC. Xbox and consoles were my primary gaming platforms (so not just for one game) back then, even with other consoles I acquired on the side. My PC wasn't as powerful then, but I still kept it to play certain low demanding titles at the time, and to browse the web doing other things. I would then purchase a more powerful PC and eventually build my own.
Furthermore, I am a big HALO fan mainly of the Bungie games, and that has been my favorite FPS franchise since Combat Evolved in the early 2000s. As a matter of fact, I know a lot about its development history and met with a couple of developers in the early days, when one of them was a parent of my past friend.
I had a 360 that caught hardware failure and I sent it in to Microsoft. They sent me a refurbished model with a different power supply and a 1-month gold card. The 360 is actually my least favorite gaming console for the build quality and hardware durability, but I thought it had a great dashboard with the simple and well-organized Blades design and the very 2nd dashboard update with avatars. That was until it continued to get downgraded and have effects and quality removed of the visual appeal. Xbox Live was also a fun experience with friends and family, considering the XBL parties and Zune video content. Gears of War and other titles (like from Rare) were great! Doritos Xbox games were fun as well! I can't lie about nostalgia, which I don't feel for today's Xbox experiences.
The 360 would've been even greater with out-of-box backwards compatibility and stronger cooling fans that blew quieter with improved airflow and stronger hardware durability. The emulation was poor quality and very limited in the selection of OG XBOX titles. It's not that I never had fun experiences on a gaming console, of course.
