Why not release the original trilogy too? Doesn't RA take place last in the timeline?

Because Sony do not release old games. They want to make good profit and they know the backlash would be massive if they sold the old ones at £40+. Also very little people actually want them. Most just emulate them. The others only want the shiny new ones. People are also desperate for games like Bloodborne Demon Souls and ghost of Tersisuma. These ports got enough backlash because they do not blood in the name. Imagine the hate if they ported a ps2 game to pc.

Then make it more worthwhile? Also they re-released the old Katamari PS2 games, so what's the big deal? Even if it's $40, have it contain games 1-3 or even remaster them.

I don't know why the "majority" would want to stay away from RC? Personally I've been waiting for RC to come to Steam since 2016.

Even adding in emulation as an argument makes little sense when it comes to the future trilogy, since not everyone can emulate PS3 games.

maybe and i say maybe, if they'll eventually remastered the ps2 ones for ps5 we'll have them (at least one year later) on pc.

I would expect not since they released Uncharted 4 on PC without the first 3 being available and those have PS4 remasters available and most of their ports are PS4/PS5 games.

Convince them with sales beyond expectations. If this performs well, they'll be more likely to look at opportunities to bring other games from the franchise here. If it sells bad, this might be the only one. Money talks.
No doubt they chose this title because it's the blockbuster one. Some would say best R&C game to date. Entering the market with the best you have kinda thing.
I'll buy any game from the series they decide to port over tho.

just use an emulator.

Redoing the PS3 into PC/x86 is probably too troublesome not worth it. Specially when you can now play almost every game perfectly with emulators.

I don't like PS2 emulation because unlike Dolphin, you can't upscale anything easily and the games tend to have more lag.
