Then there is nonsense like the supposed "problem" of cultural "appropriation." I think the reaction to Lightyear says it all. An innocent kiss so short I knew it was coming somewhere in the movie and I still didn't see it. Supposedly Disney is all political propaganda now and "inappropriately" sexual for the crime of LGBT characters merely existing at all.

The most hilarious one is many of them live under a delusion there's some agenda against straight white men. There is no such movement with any traction. It's actually primarily theocrats that clamp down on sexuality. Yes some progressives do, but nowhere near on the level of the right wing theocrats.

It's important that facts don't matter to these people. For example Kotaku posted an extremely glowing review about Final Fantasy XVI with a tiny section mentioning the characters don't have diversity. Someone lied and made a topic on GameFAQs misrepresenting the Kotaku review and saying "points were docked" from the review. There's just one tiny problem with that. Kotaku doesn't even use a score for reviews, and the review overwhelmingly gushed praise.

The reason that example is important is because that topic instantly became an echo chamber for the usual suspects whining about "wokeness." The fact topic was a lie didn't matter.

For people complaining about "wokeness" who genuinely don't think it's about simple bigotry, I urge you to pay attention. Most of the time it comes up, it's for characters merely existing. I'm not sure why I wasted energy on posting this, but I firmly believe all of it is true.
