Then we have the Spyro reignited trilogy and Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy, both solid PC ports they got under their belt.
And now they were responsible for the mess that was The Last of Us... Perhaps it was time constraints, sony pushing to have it out, maybe mismanaged time they were given to do it, whatever the case, that game came out in a pretty sorry state.
Not pre-ordering is for the best either way tho. Nixxies have a really good track record, I don't think either of their games had issues on launch. Tomb Raider games ran fantastic out of the box and I remember being quite surprised how well optimized Deus Ex: Mankind Divided appeared to be when that came out. Recently the spider-man games seemed to have no issues either. They really do some solid work. But even if there's trust, you never know, rushed projects happen all the time, Ratchet could turn out horrible, no matter how unlikely that is.
With that said, we can now refund games on Steam, if it's a clown fiesta on release, no big deal, you can get your money back, pre-ordering is much less problematic than it used to be. As for me, I quite don't care, my system can probably chew through most hot garbage ports without breaking a sweat, but even if it's utterly broken, I'll just wait for them to fix it. I hold the series very close to my heart, some of the best memories from elementary schools involve me and my friend playing the original trilogy on many weekends, pulling all-nighters and just having a blast, I am beyond stoked to jump back into the universe and they can take all of my money upfront, no questions asked.
Well said
We know they're responsible for the atrocious Arkham Knight port but that's not the only thing they did, they can make good ports as long as they have a reasonable amount of time and budget. Not to mention I recall Naughty Dog have stated they're the ones who worked on the PC port of TLOU while Iron Galaxy provided support.
There's evidence that the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection on PC was delayed from Summer 2022 into October (placeholder date on Steam was once June, and a leaked Epic blog post had the date of July). Sony should have given more time to Iron galaxy for The Last of Us Part 1, especially since they internally delayed Uncharted by several months, but they only delayed Last of Us Part 1 by 3 weeks.
However, Iron Galaxy is also responsible for Redfall's PC port (yeah, the game is garbage, but it suffered from performance issues, which Iron Galaxy is responsible for). I really don't know if it was mismanagement or if Iron Galaxy bit off more than they could chew, they're responsible for 2 disastrous PC ports not even within 2 months from each other, and they were also responsible for the disastrous Arkham Knight PC port many years ago.
I just don't think they should be hired to port big Triple A games to PC ever again. 3 disastrous PC ports are enough.
