5400rpm HDD against Sony's attempted scam?
Something tells me this game would work perfectly fine on a regular old hard disk drive disapproving Sony's claim it's possible only on the hyper ultra giga fast NVMe SSD in PS5. Year ago an old school software engineer even made a video explaining it's possible to run the game on PS3. So aside of much better load times I feel SSD wont be needed as much as Sony claims.

You will need to precache a lot and need a lot of memory.
Otherwise you will probably will see texture streaming.

So yes.. the Fast NVME SSD is for optimization.

Yeah that would have been the case if there was no shader cache preloading as in EVERY modern game. They let the CPU do all the job, this is why we get such as a bad performance in the new releases and stutter happens even on the best i7 and i9s

I called it first and said that just a normal sata ssd will work fine. I dont think a normal HHD will as I have experienced a lot of problems in modern games with a HDD....and yes, you are right. Sony ssd is just overrated and a big scam

I sincerely doubt it. Look at all those people who play Forza Horizon 4 and 5, reporting that they have the entire road disappearing under their car. That is because they are running the game on a slow hard drive, and it cannot keep up with the speed of the car they picked and other hardware necessary to run the game seamlessly.

Looking closely at various game-plays of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, you can see the game stuttering slightly occasionally when crossing between maps or worlds.

Running Black Desert Online with a fast character or using one of the fastest horses in the game will cause stuttering and bad texture quality and even cause the ground to disappear due to the same reason. I was one of those people with most of my games installed on a 7200 RPM HDD facing some of those issues.

Need for Speed (2015) will have a similar issue with an HDD.

It is possible that it works on a hard disk drive. You just have to be prepared for the fact that the dimension change does not take 4 seconds, but 40 to 50 seconds. But I would play it that way under certain circumstances if there was no other way. As I said, I will try it out myself on my hdd, just out of curiosity.

For people who are still using HDD and dont want to spend a lot on SSD, I recommend just buying a mere 256GB SSD and play your current game from there. They are super cheap at only like $15 on Amazon.
Maybe the upgraded experience will later encourage you buy a proper 1TB to 4TB SSD.

it wouldnt be the first time they lied about something, even back when it was first announced i had my suspicions, honestly...i dont care, im just glad its here on PC. i got an nvme as well,im good.
While yes it would work on a 5400 RPM drive the same as putting a 1977 VW bug engine in a Formula 1 racer would also work with a bit of tooling ingenuity but your miles just may vary a bit on the race day. From chugging frame rates slightly longer than normal load times due to heavy streaming from the cache and what not!

First of all it's not that fast actually, secondly the word you were looking for is "disproving".
Now of course it would run, but it would include loading screens, end of story.

PCIe 4.0 is possible at that price, I have two Samsung 980 PRO 1TB however and one of them was $59 at some point, and I bought a 2TB WD BLACK SN850X for $105 last month from Newegg. There was a huge discount and in fact there is still a discount on it right now, but only 20% which is still not too bad if you want 1TB of storage.

I don't know what weird black market you're making your purchases at, but you can't get a 7000mbps 2tb drive for 100 bucks.

I said with a discount. Newegg is not a black market.

Here, my past order... It was actually $115, but still pretty close to $100.
