How's the optimization?
I have the RTX 3060Ti, i7-9700k, 16 gigs of RAM and an SSD, can I expect stable 60fps? All I need is 1080p and hopefully high settings

I have:
3060 ti
5800x (eco mode)
32gb 3200mhz
installed on an NVMe

At least from when I played, it's rough. The very start where you get to control will already push your system, due to the crowd there. At least it's a good place to get your settings right (like learning to turn off RT). After that, you'll have some shootouts that'll drop FPS heavily. Likely a particle issue.

But what killed the experience for me was when I got to the third planet and a boss there drops the FPS to the 30's anytime I use my main gun against it. Doesn't matter if the settings are maxed out or everything's dropped to low/off with performance upscaling. So I stopped playing there.

Seems to be a common issue for people with this GPU and the 3070 at the very least. So I'd wait for a fix.

That's interesting, thought the performance was pretty good and the only issue was the ray traced shadows or whatever, plus the reviews are generally very positive. Is there any word on any more upcoming patches?

Sadly Nixxes hasn't said anything about this yet. So most of this forum is just people arguing while we wait for a response.

This is the bossfight I'm referring to. He has the same GPU. (Happens at 4:12)
https://youtu.be/CXOgSYJ2gzQ

There's also an intense shoot out sometime in the 2nd planet (so before this) that can drop the FPS to the 40's too. But it's not as bad as this bossfight.

Recent updates so far as well as a recent DirectStorage hotfix released by Nvidia didn't fix this issue, last time I checked.

Thanks a lot for the info. Think I'm still gonna grab it in like a month or so, took me long enough to have the opportunity to play Ratchet again, and I can't wait any longer to be honest

Like most ports, it's absolute garbage.

The minimum/recommended specs are 1000% fabricated and not accurate, there is no universe where those specs work on this port.

Wait a while for more updates if you haven't purchased the game yet, I got it as a gift on EGS and so far it is unplayable even on lowest settings 720 with this particle glitch.

Bad?
Basically I get 60 fps when I launch the game but performance degrades as time passes, it drops to around 50 fps after 5 minutes. and to 40 fps if play for 20 minutes or so. Once the performance plummets, there is no way to bring it back up until I close the game.

Maybe the game has Vram management problems, dynamic DLSS bugs, or other memory leaks.
Usually when performance in a game is bad, it's bad from start to finish, it doesn't degrade progressively over time and recovers after closing and opening the game again.

Opening and closing the map menu several times in quick succession achieves the performance degradation almost instantly.

In the log file there are a lot of instances of "[NxUpscaler] DLSS out of VRAM warning" , this leads me to think that there must be something wrong with the upscaling.
Maybe changing input resolution creates memory leaks???
When you open the map menu, the input resolution goes up because it has to render just a simple map, then it goes down again after closing the map because it has to render the game world.

The memory looks like this at the beginning (I have 12 GB of Vram and 32 GB of Ram):
[Render] Working set: 7533MB Page file: 21975MB Video Budget: 11197MB Video Usage: 10726MB Sys Budget: 15454MB Sys Usage: 1738MB Tex Usage: 1574MB Tex Budget: 3410MB BVH heaps: 100MB BVH size: 62MB Demoted: 496MB fps: 59.966671

After 7 minutes:
[Render] Working set: 9085MB Page file: 23605MB Video Budget: 11205MB Video Usage: 10861MB Sys Budget: 15454MB Sys Usage: 2748MB Tex Usage: 2187MB Tex Budget: 3410MB BVH heaps: 120MB BVH size: 81MB Demoted: 1441MB fps: 52.650002

Many instances of the following error in groups of 4-5 lines repeating the same error:
[D3D] device->GetD3D12Device()->CreateGraphicsPipelineState(&desc, __uuidof(**(&pso)), IID_PPV_ARGS_Helper(&pso)) failed with HRESULT 2147942487 (0x80070057)

With a 3060Ti, you're going to need to run medium textures to avoid serious frame drops with effects that hit VRAM.

And medium textures frequently show textures in the world that look worse than xbox 360 textures. Including up close in cutscenes.

So in my opinion, game is not done. They shouldn't have released it yet.

The first few levels are well optimized but after that the FPS wildly fluctuates on later planets. It ain't good without a RTX4070+

Damn that sounds bad... hopefully they do something about it

Yeah those specs are downright false advertisement. So much for the goodwill nixxes "earned". They haven't even addressed the performance issues plaguing this game on thier own hardware they recommended. Bunch of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

the only issue I had is the vram. at 1440p you cant go above medium texture settings at 8gb gpu, beside that there aint much issue
Crimsongz Aug 23, 2023 @ 1:44am
NVIDIA users must delete both directstorage file for good performance.

What specs do you have? Seems like the game runs pretty poorly on medium end machines like mine

Will keep this in mind just in case, thanks

rx 6600 stock & ryzen 3600 1.15v@4.2GHz
avg 40fps native at medium settings but im using fsr with dynamic resolution targeting 60fps
for my testing its gpu heavy with high vram usage
also me tested the game using rx 570 at low settings and it seem to hold 60fps using the same dynamic resolution at 1080p
the game scale well if you have enough vram
