ram optimization guide ratchet and clank rift apart
I just benchmarked my ram and I was getting good memory bandwidth but after upgrading to 8x2 16 gb of cl 20 ram. I started running out of ram faster. either that or ratchet and clank rift apart uses up more system ram in the latest version of the game 1808-1815. more than likely windows 11 improved memory usage but its latest updates cut memory bandwidth dramatically so even if it prevented me from running out of ram it simply isnt worth it to use windows 11. that being said since the newest update makes windows 11 not worthwhile to use although windows 10 has the same updates. but you can disable them.

1. find a windows 10 update disabler.

2. uninstall unnecessary programs.

3. open up the ratchet and clank launcher. open task manager using ctrl alt delete then close explorer and close all msedge processes. this will save you about 100 megabytes.

4. if you have 16gigabytes of ram on an igpu. set virtual memory to minimum 18000 maximum 18000. if you have 8 gigabytes of ram and an 8gb vram dedicated graphics do the same thing.

5. if your ram is cl 20 or lower. you really shouldn't run ratchet and clank with lower spec ram than 3200 mhz but it may still run just fine especially if you have 32 gigabytes of ram. in any case if the cl of your ram is less than cl 22 and your using 3200 mhz ram. youll run out of ram fairly quickly in windows 10. on an igpu. youll need 32 gigabytes of ram. with dedicated graphics 16 gigabytes will probably be fine.

keep in mind ratchet and clank is only supported on intel iris xe graphics 11th gen and higher or a similarly dated amd igpu

other things you can do. set steam and steamwebhelper to below normal process priority using a program called process lasso. in process lasso go to cpu priority set always below normal priority then close process lasso but choose to keep the process governor service running.
*it uses up a neglible amount of cpu usage. its for things like probalance which stops the system from being unreponsive if a program is causing the computer to freeze. you can set which programs you would not like this to be used on by right clicking the process and setting a probalance exclusion. there is also a paid feature called process watchdog which works in the trial version which allows you to control processes on your computer based on the amount of cpu usage they use. this can make your system run much faster if you can figure out how to use it.

use rivatuner for framerate display

because steam uses up a lot of cpu usage letting it run more in the background is helpful. however if you do that youll slow down your games when you use the fps counter. to avoid this. download msiafterburner go to monitoring. uncheck all the checkmarks except for framerate. go to framerate and go show in onscreen display. rivatuner should open up at the same time as msiafterburner. you could also check to see if its in the taskbar. when rivatuner is open set application detection level to low. thats all you should have to do.

there are a few frames per second difference between 1808 and 1815. on my end I noticed my chipset wasnt turboing the graphics when the processor clock speed was set to 2.1 ghz which improves frame rates. it used to get higher framerates when set to 28 tdp and max turbo boost. but now for some reason it doesnt go above 18 watts. this is fine since technically I do want the battery life you get as the result of that but I still don't understand why that happens. I used to get 25 to 30 fps with intel xe graphics igpu on a 1165g7 but I guess my non hp intel chipset driver isnt the same as the hp one. this is admittedly weak and there do seem to be moments where the game drops frames royally after playing a long time but in any case the game was running at a much lower wattage so at least i get the battery life id expect from the low performance and 18 to 20 fps really isn't that bad. although before I was getting 10 to 14 fps. so basically Id say downgrade to 1808 or if possible downgrade to the version before ray tracing support was added or better yet the version that added support for igpus. I think it was the first or second update.
