How does it compare to older games?
Hello everyone!

This is a question coming from someone who played the original games in the PS2 era!

I ABSOLUTELY loved the original Ratchet and Clank, Going Commando, Up you arsenal and (to some extent, but not nearly as much as the first three games) Deadlocked. I think I ended up skipping Size Matters, since I don't remember playing it, nor the story (maybe I'll try it out soon).

Since my last Sony console was the PS2 (couldn't afford a PS3 at the time), I didn't play any entries beyond Deadlocked... And I know that there were a LOT of games after that one.

So, a question for those who played it on the PS5: did you enjoy this game as much as the previous ones? If not, is it still a good game?

I know that there are some key differences here and there (such as the newcomer character), but does Rift Apart still mantain itself true to the core gameplay that older games used to have?

I'm asking this as someone with very little information about this game. Basically, I just know about the "SSD marketing" that Sony did during release and the fact that we have a new character.

Thanks in advance!

I feel like its a great return to form. The main issue i had with the game is it needed to be about 20% longer and have a better arena
it's an awesome game. It's not a perfect ratchet and clank game. Only thing i disliked about it- it doesn't have those space battle missions like some of the older titles did. Those were pretty fun.

Cool, then it's worth a buy!

I'm just a bit on the fence about buying it on preorder though... Guess it will be better to see what people say about performance and port issues on day one first.

But I will definitely buy this afterwards, thanks for info!

Gameplay: on par or sometimes better than the original PS2 games.
Characters, story and humor: has its moments, but nowhere near as organic and fun as the original PS2 games. Half of the characters' souls were drained and replaced by generic Pixar personalities.

I would still recommend the game for its gameplay and graphics, and for modding in the future. I know you want to play as Rivet with huge mammaries. We all do.
I've played every ratchet and clank game and beaten Rift Apart on a PS5, its a wonderful game. IF you like Ratchet and Clank you will love Rift Apart.

It's actually an okay game, nothing truly great neither bad.
Storywise Ratchet here is like a blend between ACIT and the 2016 "remake". Others characters are made by the usual Insomniac humour, pretty much all likeable.
Gameplay top notch and picks all the goods form previous games. Something missing but... its great anyway.
