Unable to progress after 1st Nefarious fight.
Rig:
i9-13900k
64 GB RAM
RTX 4090
NVMe SSD

After the 1st fight with Nefarious where you jump through the portals, the game hangs up on the 2nd portal jump. I've tried everything (deleting the DirectStorage files, lowering the graphics to absolute minimum, etc..) and nothing fixes it.

Task manager shows literally no SSD usage during the hangup.

Can pause the game during this, but when I try to quit, it gets stuck on a loading screen that never ends. Have to hard reset the game.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

This is an issue with "cutscene portals" that I reported a while ago, here's how to fix it:

Set every single graphic setting to the lowest possible, windowed, cap the game at 30 fps (IMPORTANT).
After surpassing that section and arriving to a loadable checkpoint just close the game, set everything as it was and load the game again.

Repeat if the issue happens again.

If there's no loadable checkpoint, I'm afraid you have to do the whole thing with those settings.

I finished the game once and I'm at challenge mode, and this method always seems to work for me.

Best thing to do is to either try to Verify game files or if that doesnt work then to reinstall game, maybe you have corrupted files.

The actual solution is in the first response to the discussion.

Same thing happened with me, game was running great then I got to this part and the game just kinda paused. It did correct itself in a few seconds but it was still slightly annoying nevertheless. I'm going to wait for them to iron the game out before I go back to playing it.

You can either wait for them to fix it or you can just use the very simple workaround I mentioned above and finish the game as many times as you want.

Yup I'll wait. No way am I willing to accept 30FPS in a game like this. Thanks for the workaround though.

It's actually remarkable that a game can have released 2 years ago and the port today is still released with these game-breaking bugs. This is the single most repeatable crash I've encountered in video games.

It's just for a short section though, you don't have to play the whole game at 30 fps.

May I ask how you're even setting it to 30fps?

Windows: You can simply use the fps limiter in the NVIDIA / AMD Control Panels or just use RTSS (comes with MSI Afterburner)
Linux: Just use the MANGOHUD_CONFIG="fps_limit=30" environment variable and run the game with mangohud
