FPS drops with a 4090/ 13900k
Are frame drops expected with a 4090 and a 13900k? I'm running the game at 2k res at max settings and I go down to 40fps sometimes in places like the bar outside the arena. No temp issues or anything, brand new components. Is it just an optimization issue?

I’ll be running at locked 144fps and there is will be random spots where absolutely nothing is happening and my FPS just tank

Sadly all my money went to the PC and I'm still stuck with a 2k 60fps monitor. In battle it's a steady 60 but out in the bar it drops pretty badly.

I can run it at 4K smoothly with an I9 12900K CPU, 32GB Ram and 4090 RTX.

Make sure you have the latest nVidia Game Ready Drivers, version: 536.67 or later

The issue I had was a crash to desktop without error message, but fixed that by disabling the nVidia Reflex Low Latency (to disable also turn off the DLSS frame generation). It runs just as smooth, but crash free for me.

I had issues every 10-30 mins with Reflex, and zero with it turned off. Very high to ultra settings.

Game settings are:
Resolution = 4K (3840x2160)
Ambient Occlusion = Off
Anti-Aliasing = nVidia DLAA
Display Mode = Full-screen
Dynamic Resolution Scaling = Off
Hair Quality = Very High
Texture Filtering = 16x Anisotropic
Texture Quality = Auto
Traffic Density = Very High
V-SYNC = Off
Level of Detail = Ultra
Phanton Dash Effect = On
Upscaling = Off
Ray Tracing = All set to Very High
Ray Tracing Reflections = On
RTX: Object Range = 10

The Only thing you need to turn down to get acceptable framerates is to turn Textures from " Very High" to High. i know it sounds crazy since we have 4090s that should be able to handle it but perhaps there is some bug in the texture loading or something. I had the same issue as you with my 4090, i actually play at 5120 x 2160 on DLDSR and i was getting about 40 fps on some levels but average as a whole 55 fps with everything on max including frame gen on. Up scaling was off. Once i turned textures to High from Very high i now average 110 FPS with every else MAX and frame gen on.

Delete both directstorage files in the main folder.

Meanwhile i think, it's a 4090 specific problem. i play 4080@7700x and Scarstu Debris Field, Zurkie's bar or in the arena the framerate never drops below 60fps if i play native 1440p completely maxed out quality and fully raytraced.

Do you have frame generation with nvidia reflex running? I. Had the same problems with my rtx 4090, but turning off nvidia reflex fixed it for me.
Turns out reflex in this game ruins gpu utilization.

Judging from some comments I'm starting to believe that it's an Intel CPU specific problem. I have a 4090 but with an 5800x3D and have no issue whatsoever when it comes to performance (well, aside from the random crashes that are driving me crazy). My FPS is always well above 100.

Most comments I've seen complaining about bad 4090 performance seem to be on systems with Intel CPUs.

It's a game problem. They should have it sorted in a few weeks hopefully.
