Freezing on Challenge mode

After a TON of tinkering, I was able to run the game pretty damn smoothly in the normal first playthrough. However, immediately upon switching to challenge mode, from the very start, the game freezes completely every 5 minutes of gameplay, and has to be relaunched. Any suggestions or fixes? Please?

I'm strangely experiencing the same thing. Spent 12 hours completionist style playing normal mode and soon as I entered challenge mode I keep crashing.

same problem for me freeze entire game and windows i must reset

Couldn't reproduce the freeze sadly. Its running fine. Game has so many issues.

Found this web-searching, because I encountered the same odd thing. First playthrough - maybe 1 crash, if that. Finished it tonight & thought I'd play through all the beginning stuff in challenge mode (not sure how much I'll play through it in the near future, but I wanted to have it started), and I already had 2 crashes (both with the same error saying it was a video driver error, perhaps that my specs weren't good enough, even though I didn't change the settings from my first playthrough). Given how quickly it did it, I too am assuming it has to do with it being CM.

If I DO get the itch to go through it again, and this continues to happen, it'll definitely kill the urge.

Always a bad PC management/rig issue. Runs for for me on a mid tier PC.

I figured it out. It's actually a very simple fix i had to delete the direct storage files in the game folder. It's something to do with direct storage not working. Plus they had a few patches so maybe they fixed it by now. It ran great for me after that i gained like 15 fps from deleting direct storage dll files.
