I guess that’s a way for you to say “I have no idea”, since none of us do anyways (gamers, devs prob know). It’s all up to Sony. But considering that more than 7 million copies of the original 3 games were sold on the PS2, there’s no reason not to believe that the series would not continue after Rift Apart, and considering how much love there was for the original games back in the day, there’s also no reason to believe that remakes of the old games would not sell well. In fact I’m sure that based on nostalgia alone many of those who played the originals Would come back and play remakes of them as well.
Anyways, it wouldn’t be a bad thing for Sony to consider.
Either way, while full blown remakes would be absolutely fantastic and I'd pay full price for each one, I'd be just as happy with the HD collection to be released here. I think Insomniac Games are having a lot on their plate right now to be worried about remaking old titles. Handling spiderman now too but who knows, anything is possible.
If it was a remake in spirit of the classics I would hope they'd bring back getting to turn the Screw bolt manually (I know that's a minor detail but it was so strangely satisfying)
Never played the 2016 version but I heard that it wasn’t quite like the original one and was a game which was a movie tie in.
If they were to remake the original first 3 games to look as fantastic as Rift Apart, would be a day one purchase for me as the first 3 were great titles. I wouldn’t mind the trilogy coming to pc as well, but having those games remade would be on a whole nother’ level. It doesn’t necessarily have to be insomniac doing it, maybe get another studio to do it if insomniac is too busy.
It's genuinely not going to happen, at least not a full new engine ground up remake, that was done with Ratchet & Clank PS4 as a soft reboot and it along with the movie tie in was not received well, 2016 wasn't that long ago and the game runs on and got a 60 fps patch for PS5 2 years ago

Essentially everything before 2016 is no longer canon and is unlikely to return this has a lot to do with the overall tone, sexual and crass jokes, and crude titles. The series sort've favors newer and younger fans and doesn't want to alienate the modern casual gamer who tend to be more sensitive. You might get a ps5 rerelease of the HD Collection but if there's a remake of the first game it'll be a while after at least one to two sequels for Rift Apart, this game is the ten year anniversary so maybe in another 5 to 10 years if we are lucky and the series keeps doing well.
