Better than the PS2 games?

I love the PS2 R&C games to bits and wonder if this is comparable. I loved the crazy weapons, the arenas, the leveling, the humor, the style. They were a feast.

I looked at some gameplay footage and it doesn't really look like R&C gameplay to me.

It's very much R&C. I have no idea how you could have looked at the gameplay and come to that conclusion.

It's a middling entry. Not as good as say, A Crack in Time or Up Your Arsenal but better than the 2016 reboot.

Gameplay-wise not far off from Rac 3 lock-strafe mode. No long or high jumps though but there is Phantom Dash and sprinting for movement instead. And hover boots.
