Big fps drop when there's a lot of particles ?
Hello, the game runs alright in high on my rig but I've noticed I get severe fps drops when there's a lot of particles, I think.

It always happens when I hit a ennemy with the Enforcer or when I put a lot of bullets on a boss with the pistol

Anyone knows how to fix that ?

I don't have RT enabled, same for dlss and dynamic resolution, everything else is set on high

Also I've downloaded the newest nvidia driver for my GPU (RTX 3070)

Today's update for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on PC contains various improvements and bug fixes, based on player reports and data from our crash reporting system. We have made changes to improve stability on AMD Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs and we have made changes to improve frame pacing on GPUs with 8GB of VRAM or less, when using weapons that shoot many bullets, like the Burst Pistol and the Enforcer.
IT'S FIXED

Same here, the Enforcer is what kills my frames for like half a second. 3070 as well

Seems to be a VRAM issue. I have a 5900X and 32 GB RAM and I've only seen this when my RTX 3070 Ti is starved for VRAM. You can be running around just fine, but combat or simply firing your weapons can spike VRAM and tank your frame rate. Or there's some kind of bug...

So lower textures or lower your resolution. That's the only fix I've found.

This port is pretty crap.

Oh, my textures were already on medium... I will try putting them to low and see
But I'm getting tired of this ♥♥♥♥ so I will probably put this game on-hold and wait for a fix

I've seen other people with 3070 cards reporting this. I'm not absolutely sure this is a VRAM issue, but I'm not seeing this behaviour when I'm being very careful with my VRAM budget on my 3070 Ti. I have a beefy CPU; 12-core Ryzen 9 5900X and 32 GB DDR4-3200, so I don't think it's related to CPU/RAM limits/issues unless there's some bug with Ryzen CPUs.

This game will probably be in a better shape in a few weeks. Currently we're just doing another round of beta testing for another crappy, unfinished Sony PC port.

I don't have the game yet, but u guys need to know how to optimize ur games alone.. Particles are effects option in general, just lowest the effects graphics option..

Please get the game before you start giving people "good" advice.

The game has no setting for effects and particles. Only weather particles which is completely unrelated to this issue.

I have a 3060Ti, Ryzen 7 3800x, SSD M2 NVME 2TB & 32GB RAM. And I share the same issue. When I fire the shotgun or there is a lot of particles the framerate drops so hard. Everything else so far is fine I guess. I play at 1440p with the medium preset. I tried lowering those items that are CPU expensive =\ leaving that aside, the game is playable. Even with RT on

It's just an other option name related to particles..

I believe is a serious issue with hitscan it really blasting cpu especially in "bigger" enemies cpu goes from 20~30% to 90~95% shooting enemies

I have had problems with these frame drops from shooting certain weapons. I'm playing with a DualSense controller. The half-pull trigger functionality that controls alt fire on certain guns didn't work but disabling Steam Input for the game restores the functionality.

The kicker is, now I'm not getting these drops during combat anymore. Not with the Enforcer or the pistol.

If you have this issue try disabling Steam Input for the game and report back here.

You do it from the game properties -> controller

Tried it but it didn't change anything for me
Also tried to disabled steam overlay but same issue

Hmn, have you tried monitoring CPU usage when it happens. The poster a few posts up might be on to something with the hitscan CPU spikes. I'll take a look later when I'm at my PC again.

Same issue with me. i have a rtx 3060ti and ryzen 7 5800x and especially with the enforcer depending on how many enemies i hit when i shoot my frame drops dramatically from 110 to 40. Weird thing is when i shoot no enemies a lot of the times it doesn't drop that many frames.
