Rift apart is considered one of the best games in the series... So I don't even want to know what you're smoking to come to your conclusion.
I love Going Commando and Up your Arsenal but the series from all I've played has kept a pretty close level of quality and humor. The comedy has the same flair and punch it always had so maybe the times are passing you by... or you're missing the jokes.
Still I very much agree on getting some remasters of all the old games if we could.
Ratchet never really had a badass persona, other than Deadlock perhaps. In the first game he had a snarky surfer dude attitude and in Going Commando and up your arsenal he was more snarky and less surfer dude.
