But that's exactly the crux of the matter.
I LOVE the anime, it's damn good. I have also watched the anime in its entirety. but a game that just retells a familiar story, especially with a franchise like dq, that's just awful.
It's not just what I said, the combat system is also rather...well. they should have stuck with turn based rather than that.
having the same story is one thing. but the way you tell it in the game is absolute garbage.
besides, there are people who don't let themselves be spoiled by any text in the beginning.
Well, from his words of "SIMPLE replay" I would guess that he probably hoped that some liberties were added like other anime games to give new experience/scenes/subplots.
I mean, if you look at some naruto games it tells the same stories but there's a lot of side content that makes it still worth investing in.
"As for the battle system itself, Infinity Strash simply just doesn’t feel good to play. It’s rudimentary, stiff, and clumsily executed."
"Regardless, I wouldn’t say that Infinity Strash is infinitely trash… but sometimes I got real tempted to."

"I finished the main story and hit the credits in 13 hours. Admittedly, I fast-forwarded and skipped the vast majority of vignettes because I already knew the events of the show. I didn’t do much grinding either aside from completing the repeatable free quests once as each of them unlocked."
So they skipped cutscenes and mostly rushed the main story. So most people it'll take a lot longer.
I've always thought it'd be cool if they genuinely made an original story for anime games. While I get that cross-media is always a gamble since you segment your market, I feel like with anime at least the demographic that will watch your show/read your manga/play your video game is almost certainly guaranteed to have a near complete crossover.
There's no other way to explain these terrible gameplay and designs.
doesn't sound bad after Kakarot...
But didn't kakarot add a lot of meat to the original story....like side quests of krillin and #18 dating.
Also it has some extent of exploring......which is weird that a once traditional "east to west" fighting game franchise now provides, but a game from a traditional jrpg franchise now doesn't.
still, DQ Dai is not one of those franchises that I think needs made-up stuff for a game, I felt that dragged out quite a bit in the now canceled mobile game (though, it had great looks when I played it)
the thing that stings for me is not having the full story of the now finished anime in the game...specially after I lived the cut/canceled old anime in my school days
