Nope. Just shares the same character designer.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai is a 1989 manga series that got an anime adaptation in 1991 and then they remade the anime series more faithfully in 2020 and it ran for 100 episodes.

This game will cover 41 episodes of the 100 episode anime series.

this is based in the dragon quest anime from late 80's or early 90's iirc (google "dai no daibouken") then a remake was made in 2020 available on netflix and we also have the manga.

How on Earth does a game from the 80's end up with a Manga and an anime? All I knew was that the series looked too much like Dragonball Z and Chrono Trigger. Why didn't Chrono Trigger get an anime?
