Is it part of the Dragon Ball Universe?
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai is a 1989 manga series that got an anime adaptation in 1991 and then they remade the anime series more faithfully in 2020 and it ran for 100 episodes.
This game will cover 41 episodes of the 100 episode anime series.
I still didn't know there was an anime on Dragon Quest. I would still like to know how closely the games in general follow it.
this is based in the dragon quest anime from late 80's or early 90's iirc (google "dai no daibouken") then a remake was made in 2020 available on netflix and we also have the manga.
Technically, it does if you count the cinematics from the ports, re-release and remasters
