Defitively not worth it (imo) if you don't like the source material because you will get bored watching cutscenes and fighting random monsters again and again, but gameplay/combat wise it should be at least "fun" and challenging for any Action RPG fan, I've seen recent anime game with worse combat system and game design. Perfect dodge & perfect guard, really hard boss in challenge mode (post game), cool Boss Pattern and customizable characters/team (costumes and skills).

I remember when that name meant something, seems like Avengers was the start of the trouble
FFX-2 and Kingdom Hearts was the start of the trouble. Once Disney got involved its been all downhill.
