Resource extraction missions

Hi All,
I may have been making a wrong assumption here. When I first played I sent resource extraction missions out before the survey was done, and they came back with nothing. So I stopped doing it.

But where it says 'requires survey' does that just mean a survey is needed to know what the return will be, or as I had initially assumed, it's needed to actually get anything at all?

If I've been wrong all this time it will have contributed to the frustration :)

You cannot do the Extraction Mission without a Survey first

You cannot do the Extraction Mission without a Survey first

You mean the Salvage mission. Those wont show up without survey. The regular missions you can make without it. You just dont see what in detail you will be picking up. If i hadnt done this my ship would have ran dry as i had no water or other resources on other times.

No - I mean the Resource Extraction missions. As you say, salvage does not appear until the survey, so I wouldn't need to ask the question.

40R is right. You can perform Resource Extraction missions before the Survey. You just won't know what you're picking up.

If you fail the missions, you will return with nothing.

If you're seeing successful Resource Extraction missions returning no resources, do please submit an in-game bug report, as that is not expected behaviour.

I'll have to go back and check again, pretty sure I got no access without a survey.

A successful survey mission should up the resources gathered, or the success chance. Those should be tweaked to represent that.

A resource collection mission without survey should not disclose the resources beforehand, should have small returns and lower success chance. They should be used as a desperate tactic if the player is running out of time.

I don't think the resource extraction missions ever came back successful for me unless a survey had taken place.

I can confirm that the survey has no influence on success for ressource gathering, I get successes with or without them

Did you perhaps miss the resource return at the bottom of the mission success? it shows the type of resources with an icon and number by it, not listed in word format. I seen on youtube a few players overlook that and have to double check.
