Why the developer's reputation is bad right now?
For context: LoG got into a finance situation where they had to stop supporting the second game they made which is JLO. The LoG devs had to make a hard choice on that game or this one for what might help them get out of the red, and they choose this game.
Does it suck yeah. Was it something the devs want to do, no. They said they will go back to the game if SI sells a lot, so if this salty player's where smart they would want this game to do well. And Yes the logic that this game will die cause "LoG does not support their games" goes out the window when you look at Armello.
They abandoned an Early Access game four months after release due to "financial reasons", blaming a rise in cost of living and multiple investors suddenly pulling out in the span of a couple of weeks. One has to wonder why multiple investors suddenly decided within that short time frame to all cancel their contracts with LoG so we can only assume there is more they aren't telling.
They also claimed the game only had six months left in development, however Kickstarter or crowdfunding wasn't an option because the amount of money they needed was "too much". Pretty suspicious they didn't even try to crowdfund it.
That Early Access game they abandoned is still up for sale by the way and despite in their announcement claiming you could seek a refund as Steam have processes in place for situations like this one, people have been unable to get those refunds because they have either played over 2 hours or it had been more than 14 days past the date of purchase. They claim Steam are the ones in control with allowing the refunds but it has been shown previously by companies like CDPR and Ubisoft that if they give Steam permission then they will facilitate refunds outside of the usual window.
I didn't purchase the game as I don't believe in paying to be a beta tester so I am one of the lucky ones but there are a lot of people quite cranky with the whole ordeal and justifiably so. The reviews for the game have been tanked by people sharing their disgruntlement and I guarantee they will use this game's reviews to further take out their frustrations.
Once again it takes a little bit more then 3 minutes of research to understand that LoG does not abandoned their games and it not a choice they wanted to make. This players would know this if they took the time to see the full development cycle of Armello from when it start in EA up until now.
Sure it sucks, sure no one is going to be happy about it, and sure it feels like a slap to the face cause their are plenty of games that do this. Not naming any names, but they are not hard to find. However LoG even said they would return to the protect if SI sells well, so those players hoping it will fail are shooting themselves in the foot here and not do anyone any favors.
we got a interview with the devs.

We should be seeing more content creators making videos this week before release.
For me it will be days to get people. It going to be so fun. :D
We've worked really hard to engage press and other influencers. You can see some of the fruits of our labour so far. More and more will come out closer to release!

Not a mainstream appeal, but if executed well, should be a must buy for fans of the genre
