Just no
Been a fan of this game since the original was first released, and just had quite a bad experience. I am over 80 ahead on points going into the final few turns. Lilith asked Asmodeus to be his blood vassal. Lilith was playing with 4 stacks near me, and I also had 4 stacks, of which 2 were near my base. Lilith started casting dissipation on my capitol After 3 casts (note that none were resisted even though I had 2 in destruction and was a Princex which gave me fairly high resistance) my capitol was down to 2 hit points. So far no terrible, but then she just walked right up to my capitol, straight through my territory towards my capital, with no condition allowing this. It said in tooltip I needed to take it up with Asmodeus who was across the map with me, so I insulted him to start the process. Next turn I tried to attack her troops... nope. So she can invade my land, I can't attack her, and I can't stop her. This is now how blood vassal is supposed to work. In any case, the turn after the deal was done to put me and Asmodeus at war so I could grab some hexes. But the first thing Lilith did is just walk right my troops and one-shotted my capitol with a fairly weak unit, only having to get 2 damage through.

Not sure what you guys are doing, but this game is great because attacks can't happen without warning like that.

Did she cast Tartarean pathfinding on her legion? It allows the affected legion to ignore diplomatic restrictions on movement so it can march through your territory without being in a vendetta/blood feud.

If you think your stronghold is in danger, you can use your last order to move a friendly legion through it. You won't be eliminated if you recapture your stronghold after all turns resolve.

Pretty sure I don't like that "new" spell then. That erases much of what diplo is for and only level 4 Wrath? Does it allow her to attack my capitol? She also moved several times in my territory, but I guess that was just her paying a bit of upkeep on spell. I also had that 2 headed giant I was paying upkeep on standing right next to my capitol, did that not add to defense? I could have taken it back though, so at least your tip seems to have been a solution. In any case, looks like they did a bit more than I'd like to see as the original game was great. I do like some thing they added. My friend said he'd play it if they put a transmute in to go between resource types, and they did do that!

Update: it turns out Lilith did cast that spell, but then excommunicated herself for apparently no reason and that is why she could attack my stronghold (eliminating me could not help her to win or even place higher). When I loaded that turn, I had a Hellfire Crossbow 3 tiles from her stronghold, so eliminated her on turn 57 then won on turn 62. Weird and twisted AI, but thanks for the tip of moving a unit on the last action back on one's own capital. I still don't like that diplomatic movement can be so easily bypassed.

This was also true for the original Solium Infernum, so your problem is not with the remake in this particular case.

Wrong. I have the manual for 1 right here. No such ritual. Wrath only has one ritual, and that is infernal juggernaut at level 6. Dissipation also only worked on legions. So all of this stuff is new.

There is a lot I like about what they did in this version, because the first one, as much as I love it, had heavy imbalances, but violating the infernal rules of taking territory with a ritual is too much change for my taste. I like the art and the feel of the first one, but things like the Praetor combat didn't work well, and charisma was too powerful.... it still is, but a bit better. I hope Vic is getting good royalties for the remake of his great game. Now we need one for Armageddon Empires.

?

The ability to get excommunicated by attacking Pandemonium with a spell was one of the tactics used in the original. This allowed you to bypass the diplomatic requirements and move into enemy cantons, attack Legions as well as attack Strongholds.

She used this new Tartarian Paths ritual, not in the first game. Only level 4 Wrath and easily bypass diplo requirements and go wherever you want AND take the hexes as you go. Hitting pandi was always there, but you basically lost the game if you did it unless you could take pandi or eliminate everyone else.

I am objecting to easily bypassing these requirements, which attacking pandi is certainly not easy if you wish to win.

Ah, OK. I misunderstood, because you mentioned she excommunicated herself.

My major issues with things like this are:
1) Masking only costing 1 darkness (the biggest issue, it enables destruction)
2) Dire Dissipation having the same chance of success as all other rituals, which is way too high. Doesn't matter that my resistance is equal or higher than the enemy casting due to Duchess rank and 4 destruction. Every turn it's successful.
