Not very helpful, but i guess you know that. How should a player follow every step you did in the video, by using two displays, one for playing, the other for watching these video at the same moment ?

...Yes exactly that way. Or by watching on cell phone, or by alt-tabbing out of the game to watch it.

or by just finding out how to get past where they're stuck
every item is in the video timeline so if you're stuck or can't find something, you can go to that part of the video to see how to get past it. people have been doing this since the start of youtube. I guess you're new so that's okay.

The developers told that the game would have a hint function and a map. I didn't find both things. Did somebody else find these functions ? The video on the store page looks very interesting, but the whole forest part is too large and confusing. So i don't reach these other areas.

Hint system can be enabled from the settings menu. This enables Paul to give tips on current puzzles. For the map you'll need to search for it at a certain safe space near the ear door. Use 'M' key after obtaining it to open it.
