older version
my friends play on xbox v. 1.1.0.42 and my game is PC version 1.2.0.38..... something. would this keep me from playing with them and can i revert to an older version if that is the case?

when you buy the game you get two "versions" of the game: a stable one and then an experimental one. 1.1.0.42 is the current stable version. so it seems like your friends are playing on stable but you have installed experimental. install the regular "Arma Reforger", which is the stable version, and you should be able to find their server.
