Can't do abilities/feats! (keyboard nor controller)

The dwarf can throw his holy hand grenade, but he can't shoot his exploding arrows, can someone tell me how this is done? I used the keyboard, and couldn't figure it out, then I used a controller, and still the dwarf can't shoot his exploding arrows. All other controls work, only this one doesn't, am I missing something?

It seems I am alone in this, as no one has written about it anywhere. And I don't recall there being any further steps in the original game I had on the PS2, that enabled this. I am seriously thinking how can anyone complete the game, or even play a magic heavy character if you can't even utilize all the feats/abilities.

Any thoughts?

I'm playing as the Cleric with about 6 spells on Ubuntu with a Logitech controller.
So for me, the Circle button (3 o'clock position on the right side button pad) is my magic key used to activate a spell. It seems to default to my healing spell. Push Circle to cast it. To switch to a different spell, I have to push the Up and Down buttons on the left side arrow buttons to scroll through my available spells until the one icon for the one I want is in the lower corner of the screen - then circle to cast it.
I can also use L1 to display a quick Spell list - so pushing L1 and one of the four customize-able slots will cast a frequently used spell without having to scroll through everything to find it.
My controller has an odd "feature" that I can have the left buttons mimic the left joystick - which MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE to select spells, so I have to make sure that is off when playing the game. Your controller setup will vary (I have used an XBox controller too but setup for that with Ubuntu was tough but let me map the buttons to what I wanted).
