Upped from 32 GB ram to 64 GB and noticed a change. 3070 GPU
I did not set out to upgrade to 64 GB because of this game. I just have a bad habit of running a lot of things in the background while gaming and I found a deal on Corsair RAM ($80.00). I launched into the game today and to my surprise the utilization changed. I have an RTX 3070 and before the change in ram today I was hitting about 90% on the GPU and the CPU. I am running on high settings with a 60 fps cap. I am not entirely certain why the numbers went down but I am assuming the game is offloading more work to the RAM rather than filling up the GPU? Perhaps some one with my technical expertise knows what is up? If a ram upgrade did the trick then perhaps that might save some one some money in the short term for someone rather than plunking down a chunk of change on a 40x card?

Here is my rig:
Intel 12th Gen Core i7-12700KF @64c
GeForce RTX 3070 8Gb vram
NvMe over 2 TB of storage.
64 GB ram @3600MHz

New utilization:
39% CPU usage. down from about 90%
44% Ram Usage 64 gb up from 32.
56% GPU @66c. on a RTX 3070 Down from about 90%

See link for screen shot of the new stats.

EDIT: To those of you with a 3070 card, post what your utilization is after todays patch. Thanks.

That thought crossed my mind. That could be it after I posted. Will poke around and see of other 3070 users have seen an improvement.

The 40% CPU usage is what you should normally get when playing the game (After you compile all the shaders).
It has nothing to do with System Memory (RAM). Or it shouldn't, but based on what you said - running a lot of apps in the background - maybe before you were starving your System of available RAM :)

When I ran the TLoU I would close everything down in the back ground and I was getting 90% utilization. My system was clearly struggle busing with the game. Other than that I am one of those who has way too many tabs open when doing other things. I am wondering if Regantgoat is right about the patch today.

Could be!
See, I never had an issue like that across 5 different machines. However, I always close all other applications and Chrome/edge/Discord etc... when I play a game as I want all the hardware resources to be available to the game.
Maybe this was an issue before, or maybe not. Hard to say now. But even now, you can try this and see if the gameplay experience is better or the same :)

If I don't hear from RTX 3070 people I just might yank the memory out and relaunch the game tomorrow and see what is different. But for tonight, too lazy to do it and enjoying the game plus mode. Cheers!

Sure, this is for you to find out ;) (I for one, always like to play with things like this).
I was also talking about trying to run just Windows and the game (and no other software in the background) VS your normal game run with other software running in the background ;)
(The results might prove useful for you in the future with other games as well, you never know ^_^).

Really glad the game now works for you fine and happy gaming!
Cheers!

Ah got what you are getting at. Shut all processes and these are the numbers with just the game running. The GPU bounces between about 25% and 60%. The biggest change is the GPU is dipping and going back up instead of holding near 40% or bouncing above that percent. Maybe ND actually fixed the game for some people with 3070s? The game is running real smooth. So beats me.
