Hair Glitch
Has there ever been a conclusive fix to the corrupted hair visuals in this game?

To be completely upfront, I "download" things to use a demos because companies don't make demos anymore. I try for about 15 mins and if all seems fine, I know I'm safe to buy the game.

With this, the download was perfect so I bought it. The purchased version has hair glitches immediately. Sarah's hair on the couch and Joel's, with shadows all over the place.

I'm running a 3070 with i5 12600k with 32gb RAM in Windows 11. All updates done and drivers up to date. I've even tried replacing the oodle file but nothing works. Even removed shader cache folder.

Read all that. I'm after someone to tell me.of there's anything that ACTUALLY fixes it permanently
Have you tried manually updating your DLSS file? Some reddit users reported that this fixed it for them.

https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/

Tried running DDU to clean out display driver and than install latest? When installing driver again, do a clean install. No GFE or NVIDIA app.

See if running the game in Win 10 compatibility mode does anything or running as admin?

The DLSS part makes no difference as issue persists with AMD FSR too, but I have tried it to no avail.

I will try the driver reinstall but I have only just built my machine so they are newly installed anyway.

The only 50/50 fix so far is constantly overwriting the oodle file but that isn't a satisfactory solultion.

EDIT: Reinstalling graphics drivers using CLEAN INSTALL does not help.

Just "obtained" the game via another method and that one works perfectly right off the bat. Seems that if you pay, you get a vastly inferior product. If that isn't modern day gaming in a nutshell I don't know what is. I have no idea how to fix the "real" game.

Interesting. You should write to ND and tell them of your findings.
