How to get Xbox-style prompts
Is there a way to have Xbox button prompts (A-X-Y-B, RT/LT, etc.) instead of the Playstation ones? My Xbox-like controller works with both "Use default settings" or "Enable Steam Input" in Properties > Controller (with "Disable Steam Input", the controller is recognized at all). But the prompts are based on a Playstation controller, which is pretty annoying.
Is there a way around that?

You can change Controller prompts in the menu.

Okay, but I don't see it. I see a menu where you can see what the controls correspond to on a Xbox controller (or on a Steam Deck even), but the menu still calls for the Playstation prompts and I can't figure out how to change that. Can you direct me to the specific option, please?

I assume it's under controls and not buried elsewhere, like in accessibility? (Although I pretty much looked everywhere).

I have the exact opposite problem. I am using a Bluetooth PS5 controller and I'm seeing X-Box prompts. The game itself offers various controller options. But I cannot make the selected controller icons work. There is no "use this configuration" option. Does anyone know how?

You could try reWASD, it's used for controller mapping, but it can emulate an XBox controller etc.

Has anyone found the answer to this?

I have a Dualsense controller now but the game is showing me Xbox prompts. There is no option to change it in the settings even though the controls menu shows a Dualsense layout, there is no way to select it.

Heya,

Have you tried disabling Steam Input from the game's properties menu?

In steam controller settings. Do you have playstation controller support enabled?

Right click on last of us in library. Go to properties. Select controller. Check controller configurator. You may need to override setting and select disable steam input.

For DS4/DS5 controllers to work properly on PC, you have to use them via USB Data Sync Cable. IF via BT all the games see it some random generic controller.

Have you tried changing the config in-game to reflect DS4 button layout?

This fixed the problem. Thank you. I'm assuming this hidden menu is in the other Naughty Dog games as well.

Appreciate the find. Multiple choices for controllers. Thank you.
