DLSS not improving performance?
Whenever I turn DLSS on, it has no impact on performance, does not matter if it Quality, Balanced or Performance.

...?

Never seen anything like this on a game, and I have not seen any comments on a similar situation, thoughts?

RTX 4070 Ti, Ryzen 7 5800X, 32GB RAM, 1440p

Oddly enough too, it does show improvement but in the main menu for whatever reason, there FPS goes from 90 to 105 on average in Quality Mode, but nothing changes in game.

DLSS barely improved FPS in any game I’ve tried to use it, and it even makes the game look worse.

So I never use it

Likely a CPU limitation, what is your GPU usage with DLSS on compared to off?

As already mentioned, you are probably CPU bound (very likely with that GPU)

It depends what other settings are used. If i use DLSS Balanced combined with High Preset in 2160p i really gain more FPS, but if i try to set everything to Max and only keep 2 settings down at medium, to prevent my V-RAM from going full, then DLSS Balanced has the exact same performance like DLSS Quality. Then also DLSS Performance doesn't make a difference.

Playing with:
R9 5950x (16C 32T)
ASUS TUF GAMING RTX 3080 OC (10 GB V-RAM)
G.Skill Trident Z Neo 3600 MHZ 32 GB RAM (D.O.C.P 14-14-14-34 Samsung B-DIE DR)
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1 TB (PCIE 3.0)

The game runs like a turd.

You gain more fps in 4K cause you are no longer CPU bound but GPU bound. The RTX 3080 is not able to deliver 60fps in native 4K so using DLSS gives you more fps (I mean you SHOULDN'T be CPU bound but that's where we are right now).

A 3600x is utilized to 75% on all cores while just standing in an alley way, Digital Foundry proofed that.

The game is a turd.

Thanks for the replies, makes sense, I did see comments/info about this game putting the CPU to do heavy work more than necessary for what it seems, surely to make up for the lack of proper optimization, so I guess that is part of where this comes from.

I will check on that tomorrow, had to reinstall Windows a couple of days ago, I just installed Afterburner and RivaTuner earlier but have not set it up for the monitoring features, I was checking the fps/performance from the Windows game bar info, which is not very reliable (CPU was "fine", too low usage really based on all complaints with the game in general).

I will play around with the game settings too then to test the behaviors I might get from my side, nevertheless, it would be nice to see the game properly optimized at some point soon! :shadeknight:

The morons who ported this game somehow put high cpu usage everywhere even when nothing is going on causing stutters. Until they release a patch fixing the cpu usage things won't get better.

3080 can do 4K medium/High settings at like 90fps, what are you on?

Same thing with fsr. 30 fps on quality or max performance

Yeah, you CAN tweak the settings until you get to 90fps (from time to time). But you can NOT put the game on Ultra in 4K native and expect 60fps on a 3080. It's not going to happen.

Just like i mentioned High Preset, DLSS Balanced 2160p. But i turned of DoF, Motion Blur and Lense Flare. The game should run decently, it even looks decent with DLSS Balanced i honestly can't tell if there is a difference between DLSS Balanced and Quality in this game.

But i got these very annoying short small stutters, it's like every 5 meters or something i get a tiny stutter, this isn't a stutter caused because i used up all V-RAM, no that is something else. The game's memory managment of both V-RAM and RAM is just awful. I mean if you seen the DF video you know what i mean.

Yeah i do get like 80-90 FPS that is not the problem, but the stuttering and crashing is.

Are you above what the VRAM indicator in game suggests?

Doubt it can even do 1440p at ultra tbh.

No i am not. I think it was at 7,6 GB V-RAM the game uses, and 2013 MB my Apps & Windows uses according to that indicator. So 9,6 GB both combined.
