The New World problem was due to a manufacturing fault on the cards, EVGA confirmed it.
My wife is running a EVGA RTX 3090 Hybrid, while it crashes A LOT, her card hasn't died.
Yes it does stress systems more than the usual game which might have bricked the card for possibly several reasons, like..
- it was already on its last leg from prior use or a manufacturing error finally kicket it
- problems with cooling the card, either card itself or your system and this game revealed it
So it broke and it did while you played this game. Could've played the Dead Space Remaster without DLSS for the same result (I do because DLSS is bugged and this game heats my CPU and graphic card to a steady 80+°C, more than any other game I play).
Coincidence!
But still it sucks, I know. While prices have been more stable and even going down slightly recently, it's still not a great time having to replace expensive hardware. :(
Red light means probably power issue, check if the connectors on the card side are still intact or no pins are burned
It's not like the problem specifically targeted certain models and actually made them burn out. It's because the parts that were problematic and reacted to New World were faulty to begin with. (It also showed a problem in New World's code that needed to be fixed as well.)
