Yeah, totally agree.
Okay, so you are a die hard fan of the original and so the remake can never be better in any case. It's not about objective, technical improvements you are talking about but personal taste. Got it now.
P.S: Joel *is* old and sad.
Your screenshot is funny btw, bet you were breaking a sweat to find the most blurry scene in the whole video to make your point lol
Not in this game he isn't. He doesn't get old until the TLOU2 time period. Unless you think 50 is old.
This game is the remake which came out 6 months ago on PS5. It's running on the part 2 engine which is vastly more advanced (and demanding) than the original in ps3. The fact that you can't see a difference between it and the original it's a problem between you and your glaucoma, and the fact that it's not running well has much more to do with Sony's port process, which appears to be made as cheaply as possible and with a "launch now, fix later" mentality.
If made properly, a game running in a ps5 should be able to run 1:1 on an AMD 5800 and 3060ti combo, however, this game was made specifically for PS5, and subjected to a pretty threadbare port process. I'm sure it'll eventually get fixed just like every other Sony port recently released, it'll just take some time for it to do so.
He looks like a tired, 50 year old man who has seen a lot of ♥♥♥♥. For me it fits perfectly.
We don't have to argue about the system requirements, they are a joke no doubt.
Never played the original. But as far as I know the lore and voice lines are the same. So he's still the exact same character but he looks slightly different. Or is there more to it and I just don't know?
If he was who he is now (in terms of background story, voice lines and age) then he has a very fitting character model now. It's believable.
Anyone who has a PS4 or PS5 should get TLOU Remastered, not this 'remake'. It's the way the game was meant to be played and the story experienced.
Here is just one example of a dramatic change (spoilers, don't watch if haven't completed the game).

Joel's strong stoicism from the original game is replaced by a weak beaten down character that he actually becomes in TLOU2 in the future where Druckmann does a character assassination on him.
I've seen some comparisons and I really like the new character models. Tess is especially obvious. Same with Henry.
The old models look cartoony. The new models allow me to get into the story and see real emotions.
I can understand that you are being nostalgic and that you simply like the old game more. But I personally have no interest to play what I clearly consider the less impact full experience. If it wasn't for the level of graphical fidelity and the constant being in awe when entering new environments I would've lost interest very quickly. It's not a particularly good game mechanically. It lives from it's jaw dropping visuals and atmosphere. And so did the original and it worked the same way 10 years ago. Today it wouldn't work for new players on the same level anymore.
