another proof how utter trash this port is. not even an open world, but linear cutscene simulator game with this kind of system requirements is ridiculous, even if they made some 'dramatic improvements'. some people still defend it, because they happen to have 4090 and they brute force it to work. or paid 60$ for piece of sh1t port and cant admit they wasted their money

Yeah, totally agree.

So you go to 3:45 in this video and then you tell me it's not dramatically improved:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mzeDC6RDr0

It doesn't look better so much as different. In some ways it's worse because they use the ugly TLOU2 models which make Joel look old and sad.

The PS4 remaster remains the definitive version of the game, which runs at 1080p60 on the 'potato' base PS4 (I have one and the game looks and runs fantastic.)

Okay, so you are a die hard fan of the original and so the remake can never be better in any case. It's not about objective, technical improvements you are talking about but personal taste. Got it now.

P.S: Joel *is* old and sad.

Your screenshot is funny btw, bet you were breaking a sweat to find the most blurry scene in the whole video to make your point lol

No, this version with the TLOU2 improvements undeniably looks better in terms of the environments. The changes to the character models are subjective but the environment itself is objectively better. However, not SO MUCH BETTER that the system requirements should have jumped exponentially.

P.S: Joel *is* old and sad.
Not in this game he isn't. He doesn't get old until the TLOU2 time period. Unless you think 50 is old.

The game looks great on PS3 and pushes it to its limits. However, a modern PC should be able to run it at hundreds of fps without breaking a sweat. The 'remake' only looks slightly better, it doesn't make any dramatic improvements.

This game is the remake which came out 6 months ago on PS5. It's running on the part 2 engine which is vastly more advanced (and demanding) than the original in ps3. The fact that you can't see a difference between it and the original it's a problem between you and your glaucoma, and the fact that it's not running well has much more to do with Sony's port process, which appears to be made as cheaply as possible and with a "launch now, fix later" mentality.

If made properly, a game running in a ps5 should be able to run 1:1 on an AMD 5800 and 3060ti combo, however, this game was made specifically for PS5, and subjected to a pretty threadbare port process. I'm sure it'll eventually get fixed just like every other Sony port recently released, it'll just take some time for it to do so.

I chose it quickly to show the difference in character models, I never noticed how blurry it is, that's not the point. People who haven't played the original (on PS3 or PS4) should know how much better the original models are.

The game uses the TLOU2 engine which runs easily on a base PS4. It isn't a 'PS5 game' per se (to all intents and purposes a PS5 is merely a faster PS4 anyway, it's just a PC by another name).

He looks like a tired, 50 year old man who has seen a lot of ♥♥♥♥. For me it fits perfectly.

We don't have to argue about the system requirements, they are a joke no doubt.
He looks 20 years older in the remake and has a totally different vibe, it's a retcon. Druckmann has said as much, that he didn't like the original Joel and is doing a character assassination on him. People who haven't played the original should understand this.

Never played the original. But as far as I know the lore and voice lines are the same. So he's still the exact same character but he looks slightly different. Or is there more to it and I just don't know?
If he was who he is now (in terms of background story, voice lines and age) then he has a very fitting character model now. It's believable.

You don't understand, because you didn't play the original and you don't know what you're missing. This game tells its story through facial models and expressions like few other games do. You change that and you're changing a big part of the magic of what made the original story so great.

Anyone who has a PS4 or PS5 should get TLOU Remastered, not this 'remake'. It's the way the game was meant to be played and the story experienced.

Here is just one example of a dramatic change (spoilers, don't watch if haven't completed the game).

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheLastOfUs2/comments/x3ai15/i_just_made_a_comparison_between_part_1_remake/

Joel's strong stoicism from the original game is replaced by a weak beaten down character that he actually becomes in TLOU2 in the future where Druckmann does a character assassination on him.

I've seen some comparisons and I really like the new character models. Tess is especially obvious. Same with Henry.
The old models look cartoony. The new models allow me to get into the story and see real emotions.

I can understand that you are being nostalgic and that you simply like the old game more. But I personally have no interest to play what I clearly consider the less impact full experience. If it wasn't for the level of graphical fidelity and the constant being in awe when entering new environments I would've lost interest very quickly. It's not a particularly good game mechanically. It lives from it's jaw dropping visuals and atmosphere. And so did the original and it worked the same way 10 years ago. Today it wouldn't work for new players on the same level anymore.
Stop spoiling the game plot, for the sake of those ppl that haven't spoiled it for themselves already or know the game. Yes sure the game is more than 9 years old and all but you ppl still shouldn't spoil the game for others.
