Game is really underwhelming.
It’s my first experience with The Last of Us, Ive never have played it on consoles. Technical problems aside, I think game was really overhyped. I’ve heard so many positive opinions, praising this game, calling it best of all time and yet I think it’s just… decent? I’m sure my opinion might be influenced by the absolutely terrible technical state of the port, but game underneath all the difficulties still seem just like your typical third person shooter instead of masterpiece it’s heralded to be. Anyone with similar feelings?

Yes it's the most over hyped game in existence, I think the story and characters won people over but the gameplay isn't good

I think the game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing and i would have enjoyed the absolute ♥♥♥♥ out of it if it wasnt for the tehnical issues. On the contrary the gameplay is what i enjoy the most. Love the pace between story, combat and scaveging.

i feel the opposite, its one of my favourite games, the story telling is amazing, the characters have personality and are unique, the combat is repetitive but really satisfying with the updated gore and the dlc also adds good backstory. it has everything that alot of games miss nowadays which is why im so happy that its finally on pc. ive seen youve played a decent amount so at least youve tried the game unlike some other people, but i recommend playing till the end because its REALLY good. if you finish it and still arent much of a fan of games likes this then thats alright, im just glad you tried it :)

Small indie corporation Sony advertised its exclusive left and right even paying for awards. Some people can't form their own opinion and if it got awards and their favourite youtuber liked it - they think it's the best thing ever.

don't forget, most of the reviewers are comparing among other action titles where there are also very little stories and is mostly about horror and stuff. I would say compare to titles like RE4, it is definitely up there. But comparing against every game in existance, it is the low of the low to me.

I actually really like story heavy games, but I couldn’t get invested into this one’s yet. I think technical difficulties makes it little to hard to really immerse myself. Shooting feels really good tho, not gonna lie. Gore and feedback from guns feel super satisfying. Too bad game’s limited resources on harder difficulties encourage boring stealth over shooting, I view this as a slight design flaw. Overall I don’t think game is bad but really overhyped. Bad state of the port keeps me from enjoying it fully, unfortunately.

Now I liked the game a lot but it's not exactly the greatest game I've played or anything.

I think I would have liked it more if there were more encounters with the infected and maybe a couple more types of infected enemies. Most of the game is fighting human enemies which isn't as interesting as the infected if you ask me.
More encounters with the infected? Couple more types? I've played 6 hours (for the first time since release) and already encountered three different types. Runner, clicker and bloater. Not to mention that, once I got outside the QZ, I was mostly fighting infected. The game mixes your encounters so you fight both outside the QZ. The story is amazing and the world building they do with items you can find, tidbits of dialogue you get if you pay attention and use the prompts when they show up is top notch. I'm not saying people need to have the same opinions that I or others do about the game but they didn't drop the ball in the slightest with this game. This port? Most definitely. But to say the story is bad, the gameplay is bad or the enemy type is mostly one is just wrong. You don't have to like something for it to be good, just say you don't like it instead of trying to be controversial.

Only 3 types?? That's not a lot... and the whole game has 4 types of infected. One of types, the Stalker, only shows up twice in the whole game. And you're also only forced to fight the Bloater twice.

At least 80% of the Infected that you fight in this game are just two types: Runner and Clicker.

The second half of the game is almost all human fights. At one point I completely forgot about infected enemies.

Yea I agree

I kinda knew it from the show but I said let me play and experience what is the best game they've been calling it for 10 years now
as expected, a typical mid Sony title over hyped sadly..

Maybe because they don't get to play other games beside exclusives so they don't have a bar to judge to

Runner, clicker and bloater.
And that's it

Ok, experiences are subjective.

I have to disagree. The writing is fantastic, the mechanics are engaging and interesting, sound and graphics design was way ahead of its time and so on and so forth. Maybe by today's standards it's not all that and a hill of beans, but it'll always be a milestone to me that is gorgeous to this day.

But, that's my opinion, your mileage may vary :-)

The *performance*, on the other hand, is atrocious, embarrassing and a huge black mark on its developers and publisher, I hope they'll get it fixed and I really believe that it's too much of a big deal to Sony for them to just let it die, but I could be wrong.
My guess is people are either wanting this to be a huge open world game with constant side quests, bandit camps, boss fights, hundreds of hours of exploration and looting to do all while looking as realistic as possible OR they play too many action FPS games and don't pay attention during cutscenes. This game set the standard back in the day and still holds up. Does it compare to RDR2? No. But the story is still fantastic, world building, dialogue and gameplay are still great. Calling it mid-tier because you couldn't play it until they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up this port doesn't make you edgy, different or entitled to agreement from people who enjoy the game.
