Anyone else getting freezes where the game audio continues but the visuals completely freeze?
The game has to be ended with task manager when freezing, it never recovers (I haven't waited longer than a few minutes) and alt f4ing will kill the game but the audio continues and the process doesn't end, I haven't seen anyone else talking about this issue so I'm wondering if there is a fix I haven't heard about. I only see people talk about crashes and stutters and stuff, will buy you a $10 game on Steam or something if you can help me fix it! Thanks! Will appreciate any input!

My specs:
3070ti
5600x
32gb 3600 DDR4
Installed on SSD

Only hitting 70c gpu and cpu ish, but 100% usage on both probably, haven't been able to test the game very much now, I was able to play for maybe 30 minutes at a time before getting freezes but now I can't play for more than a minute or two, any idea why? Did it damage my hardware?

I've tried (and some of these in combination with eachother and stuff):
.dll swapping
V-sync toggling and 60 fps locking
DLSS toggling
Low/Medium/High/Ultra toggling
Steam overlay toggling
Offline mode toggling
Compatibility settings
Disabling full-screen optimizations
Running as admin

I can't think of anything else to try, would I be right in the assessment that it's out of my hands and I need to wait for the patch?

Oh also I don't get crashing very often, I've only had maybe 5. But I have had like 45+ freezes that required a full game restart.

Wait for a patch, it says I have "10 hours playtime" and I barley got the chapter 3 because of the CONTINUITIES crashing every 5 minutes amd my pc is MORE than enough to run it no problem. All other steam games run flawlessly including red dead 2 maxed out in 4k, arguably one of the most demanding games for pc

Did you get any freezing?

Hey thanks for directing me this way.

Just wanna clarify, did you wait for the shader compilation to finish before attempting to play?

No, thank you! :wrynhappy: Yes, my drivers are up to date and I've attempted to load the shaders multiple times with other settings too, like when you change the resolution %. I'm going to shut down and check my BIOS now.

I'm little confused. Sounds like something is making the game hang and crash. COULD be a game fault. Could also be something else on your end. Run task manager and see what processes get too high while you're playing TLOU just to rule out a potential background culprit.

Well now it won't even boot after restarting so I think it's the game ultimately. But I had to end it with Task Manager each time and I made sure to close everything, even Discord, I'd close Steam if I could too.

Do you have any sort of special software for things like Steel Series Headsets or any other brand?

No, I try to buy peripherals that don't require software or drivers. I disabled the setting in-game where it can make certain things light up and stuff cause I thought maybe that might be causing it. I have no idea what's wrong, I appreciate you replying!

Power off your PC and flip the PSU switch to off. Unplug the power cable and then push the power button on the PC for 15-30 seconds to power cycle it. Plug it back in, unplug all your USB devices except keyboard and mouse, and power up the PC and try again.

It's rare but once in a while USB devices can get just haywire. USB device going bad, corrupted, bad thumb drive/external drive data just interfering, pulling too much power for the motherboard to manage while also juicing up the CPU and GPU to run the game, etc.

No problem and yep you already answered what my next question was gonna be which was those settings options. I know this is off topic now but what headset do you use in that case because bad audio drivers and software are starting to piss me off.

I hear that! I personally just a plug n play mic (NZXT Capsule) and AudioTechnica stereo headphones (3.5mm jack not USB, but it's plugged in through the Capsule mic)

I'm currently using the Artis 7 from Steel Series and the software is awful and it almost seems like each month it gets worse I might have to look into some AudioTechnica or Sennheiser headphones again.
