he lied because he did not want here to die so he killed them but he knew that he killed them and saved her she would not forgive him because she probably would not want to die but would have sacrificed her self if it could have maybe saved the human race

It's possible there are others, but the circumstances under which Ellie gained her immunuty are fairly unique. They explain why in one of the show's episodes.

Nah. That whole hospital sequence was just Ellie's dream. She woke up and Joe told her the real thing.
