Finnaly managed to fix the game on my PC
Despite having an i5-12600K processor, an RTX 3090 GPU, and 32GB of RAM in my pretty solid PC, the game would frequently crash every 10 minutes (even after all the hotfixes). Even though I upgraded my RAM by 16GB to 48GB, it did not help.

The game looks fantastic, and I achieved 70–120FPS on my ultrawide screen while using DLSS in quality level, however those crashes were a huge letdown. I tried disabling DLSS, increasing RAM (pagefile and physical), and fiddling with drivers, but the game still crashed frequently.

I was able to play for a full five hours without any problems after downgrading the NVIDIA driver to version 528.49 and using DDU to remove the outdated driver. But, in order to maintain the FPS, I had to abandon DLSS (as it would keep crashing even with the downgraded drivers) and switch to FSR 2.0, which resulted in certain artifacts appearing in certain game areas. According to what I've read, all of these "solutions" are pretty hit or miss; perhaps my post would be helpful to someone.

I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to this amazing community for all the tips, tricks, and support you've provided. It's incredible how everyone is so willing to help each other out, and it has truly made my gaming experience that much better. Thanks to all of you, I can now fully immerse myself in this epic game and enjoy it to the fullest. Cheers to all of you, and happy gaming!

I won't start it for a few weeks, hopefully it's fixed this summer.

Same situation in AMD Drivers

I downgraded my driver. Still have crashes. It could be that the newer driver exposes more issues with the port, but there are issues regardless.

Are you sure it isn't because you uninstalled Geforce experience when you rolled back the driver? I was crashing so much in prologue, until I turned of the geforce overlay. Was able to get out of prologue, but still get crashes every hour or so. I did the same thing as you, manually set my virtual ram, hell I even updated my bios, disabled xmp, went to nvidia control panel and manually set everything. I put a frame cap of 120fps on mine, i'm using 13900k, 32gb DDR5, 3090ti. I'm gonna try just uninstalling geforce experience, and switching to FSR. But, if AMD ppl are having same issue, I don't expect this to help. Unless they try using DLSS and maybe there's an issue with the AI frame generation assignment. Still though, game is using a lot of ram and cpu to run. It's poorly optimized, for sure, but something else is happening on a hardware level with issues.

I'll try rolling back drivers too after this. I'm running out of things to try so keep them coming. Cheers. Also, I just finally got to Bill's and it's my first time playing the game, only watched the show. I even avoided all the streams so this is a brand new experience for me. I love it!

528.49 driver... I'm using it too because (all) latest drivers gave constant crash and freeze on another game (Immortals Fenyx Rising) it's a known issue there...

But i doubt it's the same with this one, I seen plenty people using latest nvidia drivers on this game without any crash...

FYI : game run smooth no crash or else for me
yes shader took some times 15+ min on NVMe. but all went just well after that.

Oh man! Find out everything you can from them. What they have running in background, any overlays, or apps they usually have opened like "Discord" that they close. I really want to figure out where the conflict is happening, but yeah. the crashing is the only thing for me, other than that, game looks and runs beautiful, albeit "Warm" temp wise.

Ok.. I rolled back driver using DDU and installed the 528.49 for my 3090ti. Now only TLOU game on steam tries to launch with an error.
"tlou part 1 is attempting to launch with optional parameters shown below"
""service" "steam""

"If you did not request this launch or do not understand select cancel."

When I click OK, it just comes back. Any other game launches fine... I'm not sure why this is having issues. I've just uninstalled and reinstalled the game, repaired library, verified integrity, I have no idea what this is about and can't find much online about it. Other than, "Update drivers". lol

Welp... I updated the driver to current, and it launched just fine.. now 30min to install shaders again, all to know it's just gonna crash on me within an hour anyways... man...

Well, when I've downgraded the drivers, I've kept the Geforce experience, so I don't think that's the issue. As i said in the main post, it's really hit or miss with all this 'fixes'.

Oh man, that's a bummer! 🙁 I'm not sure why it's happening either, but maybe try another reboot after installing the older drivers? You never know, it could help. 🤞

I apologize, I actually did get it to work on that driver. However I was running into compatability issues because I went into steam and set it up to "Run As Administrator" a long time ago. When using old drivers you need to uncheck these on Steam.exe and the games .exe file. Not a lot of ppl had that issue because a lot don't go in the properties of the exe files.. But no, this did fix it for me, and before this last nvidia patch, I was playing flawlessly! So just wanted to thank you and everyone in this thread. I tried to share it as much as possible, but then the new nvidia driver came out and took care of the crashing issue.

Thanks again!
