Nah man. The game’s performance is trash for a lot of people, even reviewers and if someone is having issues running it they should refund it instead of waiting. They can buy it later when they hopefully manage to fix everything but right now refunding is the right thing to do.
I know you like the game but we cannot keep letting the devs get away with awful optimization and performance in full priced AAA games. The devs delayed it to “enhance performance” but they clearly did not do any of that, they didn’t give reviewers early copies and also there was this strict embargo. So they very well knew about the game’s terrible performance but they still decided to release it to PC players. Blatant cash grab if you ask me.
On a side note it's a shame that "Review Bombing" is thrown around incorrectly, like that article.
Review Bombing is bad reviews not related directly to the game itself.
Bad reviews for bad performance, bad story, bad gameplay, or anything of that nature are not review bombing.
Othewise... Imagine the sate of the game, when they didn't delay it.
Maybe even I wouldn't be able to run it then. :O
I agree that this is a big red flag.
Think CD Project Red did the same with Cyberpunk right?
So this should always be a warning for everyone to even refund a pre-order.
For myself it turned out well and I hadn't any single crash yet. The performance is either fine, when I imagine that the original specs for ultra were a 4090 and I am still on the Turning-architecture. :O
I honestly have no idea, why it runs that well for me, but I'm not about to question it, as long as I can continue enjoying that game.

“We want to make sure that The Last of Us Part I PC debut is in the best shape possible,” Naughty Dog wrote in a tweet. “These additional few weeks will allow us to ensure this version of The Last of Us lives up to your, and our, standards.”

It's a 2022 game. Altho, you are of course correct that this kind of release of the game is a total disaster.
It's a 2013 game with many version in between. I would take the first PS$ version being ported to the PC instead of the PS5 re-re-master.

the problems though are real

Part 1 is built using upgraded for PS5 TLOU2 engine. It's NOT a 2013 game.
The PS5 version is more of a texture remake not really any newer than the 2013 and 2014 PS4 version.
Well I am aware of that.
But you wrote that they clearly didn't. That's what I was speaking about (I've underlinded the part ;))
I doubt they were sitting there doing nothing.
Therefore I said, that we could imagine how broken it would have been before.
They should have taken more time than additional few weeks, to ensure no problems may arise for most of the players (it's basically impossible to cover all isses that arise for some people).
Apparently they rushed it to the end of the series to catch some more hyped people?
Taking care of technical issues is far more important.
