I capped it to 1 fps and it ran smooth as butter at 8k.

I find the best way to play it is by using the software 'rivatuner' to cap it to 30 fps so the frametimes are perfectly spaced (use the graph in rivatuner and it will show a nice straight line for frametimes) set the refresh rate on monitor to any multiple of 30 and it's a smooth experience more like console. I agree that you shouldn't have to do this but if you want the best graphics and the smoothest experience with a poorly optimised game, this works!

Yeah running the game at 30fps makes sense if you are playing this game on the Steam Deck. But not a high end Desktop rig or even a high end Gaming Laptop.
